Thanks for the photos, Ruffan. Have you noticed any improvements in chassis stability due to the rear bar?

This will be one of the mods I do after power and suspension upgrades.

I've noticed that there is less flex in the car. I park it in a garage in Manhattan and when I pull in to the driveway of the garage my rear wheel lifts right off the ground where it didn't typically do that previously.

I installed the bar for 2 main reasons, both having to do with track safety and comfort. I'm hoping that the bar increases the safety of the car in a rollover on the track (or street i guess) but really i just needed the harness bar to attach racing harnesses to. As of now I'll be using a 4-point solution (with ASM) and maybe eventually i'll decide to make this a true track car and replace the heavy seats with some racing seats with the full 6-point system.

This weekend will be my first track excursion with the bar and harnesses, so I'll report back on how it goes.

Successful weekend at Watkins Glen. The harnesses helped tremendously, although I honestly did still find myself bracing with my left knee a bit. I guess racing seats may be in my future after all. It was so much more comfortable to be strapped in correctly. I could tell that I wasn't using as much energy as I did previously which really helped me focus on driving and getting the most out of my new brakes and tires. I finally feel like my car is a legitimate track car, despite it still being quite comfortable on the street. I clearly could take it further with coil-overs and racing seats, but I don't think I want/need to. The car is a monster out there, and I've done enough to it at this point. It's night and day from stock and I am so happy to have it.

What a great track. I encourage anyone in range of central NY state to find a way to try it out. This was my third time there and it keeps getting better.

Ive been on the fence about buying one for a while now.

The bar stiffens up the car, so it transitions a little bit quicker than it did previously, but it's not night and day. My experience is with the entire cage in, not just the rear bar.

Beautiful; I'm curious to see if just the rear bar would help tighten up some of the "a$$" issues this vehicle has.

Not sure what ass issues u speak of, the tail wagging is from the e-diff. A lot of people don't even run a bigger rear sway because it's too stiff. I also run this cage, and the car is more rigid, I doubt you would notice a change with any "issues" you are percieving.

I absolutely love the cage with my cheapo Corbeau's and Schroth harnesses.

I have both an E88 and an E82 (with the BR half cage) 135i and without a doubt the entire half cage will not fit in a vert due to being unable to lower the rear seats.

I'm not 100% sure whether you can or cannot fit just the rear strut bar but I'd guess without the tabs you probably can.

In theory you could probably install just the hoop and harness bar without the cross brace and down bars but it wobbles a lot when the cross brace/down bars aren't installed to tie it into the rear strut brace. That would make it unsuitable for use with a harness.

I wish there was a bolt in harness bar like the C6 corvette guys have. I would like to get into road racing more and I know good seats and a harness make the track time more enjoyable. I had bruises after my last track day in a C5.
