Trunk lids

Are the e88 and e82 trunk lids the same, is there a difference between convertible and coupe?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Convertible has an antenna, that's one difference I know for sure. I'd also wager that the verts have smaller trunk lids

The coupe has more of a ducktail design to it where as the vert trunk is is pretty much flat

Thanks, I am not as worried about shape as I am fit. My concern is that the convertible one is different enough that a coupe one will not fit.

I think that aftermarket coupe ones (I think I know what you're thinking about) will fit, but they need trimming and massaging where the trunk would meet the rear glass.

The convertible doesn't meet the rear glass, but yeah, most aftermarket items are less than perfect. This is a FB deal. Likely it will not fit.

I have a substantial ding in my trunk lid, which is why I am considering CF.

I've seen one guy on here do it. Trimming was needed as the E88 trunk is shorter on the backside where the trunk would meet the glass. That section the comes up to stow away the top takes up some room. It's doable, but know that it's going to take trimming. Not a big deal if you're planning on painting but would look bad on bare carbon

Storm a few weeks ago damaged the lid. It is fixable, but I thought why not CF?

Ouch. Was it that gigantic wind storm we had, or one of the bizillion little t-storms we've been having?

The big one. A tree limb hit it. Better the trunk lid than the roof!

Very true. I was glad I was parked on the street when we had that storm, we lost a bunch of window screens and roof shingles into the driveway. 20-year-old roof still held up better than the roofs in a nice, new 2-year-old neighborhood down the road...
