Left vs Right Front Heat Shields.

I had my front rotors replaced over the weekend, when they took the wheels off, I noticed that the left and right heat shields had different distances away from the rotors. The differences was about an inch.

Is this normal? I am tempted to balance them out either by pulling or pushing so they match.

Hm never paid close attention myself. If it's not hitting anything I doubt it would make a difference, unless of course it's bent in such a way as to reduce the amount of air it directs towards the rotor center (that's one of the functions). I have actually swapped mine out for F30 shields as they have a small "built in" duct of sorts to help direct air to the center of the rotor. May not be that functional but was replacing brakes with 135i calipers and had to replace the heat shields anyway, so got F30 models.

They should be equidistant. Mine sometimes get bent a little from the wheel hitting it. Just bend it back

Yeh sounds like someone was careless when un/mounting the wheel or pushed the shield away to fit a tool to measure the disc thickness
