Try putting a chapstick or something similar on top of the coins. Mine made noise until I did that and now I don't hear it at all.

I have the little coin holder thing in my car. I have a lot of pennies which I like to throw at people when I'm in the BMW mood.

Okay, I'll try that. I can't believe I'm getting so many responses to this simple thread. I thought 1 or 2 people would offer a suggestion, that's it. Everyone must be bored on a Friday, I guess.

In most states it is illegal not to have your registration in the car at all times. What you don't want to ever have in your car is the TITLE.

In Georgia they monitor title and insurance on their computers. There is a network that information is maintained on, and what is in the database is all that matters. Cops will still ask for your insurance card when they pull you over, but just so that they don't have to pull it up on the computer unless there is a reason. I have never had one ask me for my registration, though. Here they say, "show me your license and proof of insurance."

Yea, they generally hold about $3-4 in quarters, $1-1.50 in dimes, and probably about $0.50 in nickles.

Ashtray and I hear the noise too and sometimes I forget that it's the coins.

The lack of a coin holder is one of the complaints that I have about the car. I guess they like to keep the cars as light as possible by not allowing you to carry too much extra weight around.

The first time I got pulled over in NY I was all sorts of confused when the cop asked me for license, registration, and insurace card. I don't even have an insurance card. I thought he told me I had to have it on me if I was going to drive in NY, but he was probably just being lazy and didn't want to pull the info up.

I hope no one is dumb enough to keep his/her title in his/her car.

Change

After reading this thread I went out and got a cheap cylindrical change caddy at Target. It fits in the door pocket reasonably well. The ashtray is good for parking card and beeper.

Between seats compartment is good but the chargers stick up and require driving with the lid up. I thought I'd like the air vent in this compartment (esp summer), but it seems in the winter even with it shut off there's heating going on. I guess I should be driving with warm beverages in the winter, but I think all of those containers don't fit due to height.

There is a difference between having it on you to show to a cop and leaving it in the car.
