1M has a sister!

So I finally gave in and traded my S5 for a sedan due to the growing family...

700 miles on her and she's almost as much fun as the 1M.

Yeah the cabin is a great place to be and the extra space is perfect for the family, but that comes at the cost of feeling much larger.

The S55 sounds awesome from the cabin. Power feels comparable to my 1M (with catless dp, fmic, Cobb) although I haven't experienced the top end of the M3.
The M3 suspension is much more comfortable around town.

Obviously gadgets/interior are nicer in the M3. I still think the 1M cabin holds it's own and feels more focused in comparison.

I'll report back as I get through break-in and have some more seat time.

Amazing garage & two spectacular Bimmers!

Can you give us some info about your lift? Thoughts on 2 post vs 4 post? I'm looking into garage lifts and would appreciate your insights. Thx.

The lift is a Bendpak HD-7. It's moveable and relatively small so I can fit a second lift in the garage when the time comes for another toy.

As far as 2 post vs 4, it comes down to what your primary use will be. For me it was storage and then the occasional fluid change. If you see yourself doing a lot of suspension/wheel swaps the a 2 post would be better (although not ideal for storage).

If I wasn't concerned with space, I'd opt for one of the wider models so pulling in/out required less skill.

Bendpak castor kit. Essentially you lower the deck onto a set of wheels that lever the posts into the air. From that position the lift is rollable (with or without a car on it).

Oh so the lift doesn't need to be bolted to the ground? That sounds awesome especially when you can roll it with a car on it! Money well spent.

Correct, no bolts required for 4 post depending on your concrete pad.

Thanks for the compliment. Just a 2 worker household

The lift looks expensive, but the reality was that when I was building the garage, I had a footprint constraint and so I had to build up. An extra car port would've cost me 5-10k more than this setup all-in. The bonus is now it impresses in photos and I can get under the cars and do basic maintenance
