A valuble thread; list of what needs done before tracking.
On one of the forums for my Boss 302 some guys put together a nice thread listing items that should be done before tracking your 1M.
As I am taking mine to VIR this coming weekend and will be running it in the instructor group, I thought it may be a helpful link to start for the coming track season. Normally I run my Spec E30 in either the races or in TT. Since I decided to instruct for a few friends, I thought this would be a good time to run the 1M a few laps on my home track. The Spec E30 will still be used for TT but I'll give a few rides in 1M. The only tracking this car has had was on the Nurburgring at 7/10's right after pick up. It did great but we didn't push it very hard. My car is 100% stock with 2,800 miles on it. What say this group? |

Basically for a new to the track driver get the car checked out before hitting the track. Most DE organizations require this and should be done everytime you do an event. Obviously you need a reasonable amount of tire and brake pad life left. Brake fluid shouldn't be excessively old. Tires should be inflated to specs on the inside of the door. Remove all lose items from inside the car. Make sure oil is topped off. That's about it for the car. Enjoy!
If a person is more experianced then they will want to do more than this. I recommend better brake fluid at the least. |

Input on tire pressure? I doubt that in a 20 min. session you want to start off at "stock" tire pressures. |

A more experianced driver will want to play with this. Since you race you already know this though. Target temp is what you are after. If you want to get serious with it a pyrometer is your friend |
