Another AA tune questions thread

Soo, I like what I see people posting about the AA tune... I got a quote from a local AA dealer for $950 for tune + dyno.. their site shows $450 for the tune, $350 for the G5 flash tool

Totally understand that I basically get a dyno at that price, but would it be better in the long run to just get the tool myself?

I'd even pay someone $75 to rent their G5 for a day or two if possible (PM me if interested!)

Or would it be better (both performance and cost) to just have AA do it? I don't mind not getting a dyno... my butt dyno will suffice

Yes i recommend that you get the tool yourself instead of having to pay someone every time a change needs to be made

I don't think you can borrow someone else's G5 tool, because I think it's linked to the VIN.

For $950, I'd just buy the tool and do it myself, and forgo the dyno. I paid a shop to do the tune for me the first time out of convenience, and now I'm about to buy the header tune upgrade and I'm going to be getting the G% this time around. Should've just bought it in the first place!

Honestly, i think the piece of mind of being able to reflash if needed is worth it.

Get The the tool and do it yourself. It's cheaper in the long run and easier to return to stock if you need to take the care in for work.

+1 to having the flashing tool. Makes life SO easy for any future software or hardware changes.

I think that's settled! Now just have to save up for it

Once I get the software and flashing tool, do I still have to download the ECU, email to AA, wait for them to modify and email back?

Yep. It'll take about an hour to read and about 30 minutes to write after receiving the tune. Be sure to have a battery tender on the car.
