Dinan tune

Getting the stage 2 tune when air bag is installed, quoted 180 install plus roughly 755 for tune =sound about right? Going to do it regardless but was curious- lol. Is a BMW dealer- certified Dinan installer. Thanks!

Sounds right to me.

I'm going to install my own as soon as I get my car back from the dealership. They have FINALLY heard the constant popping in the dashboard. We'll see what they do to try to resolve it...

Wish me luck.

Even though my dealer (well technically one of the dealer branches that are part of the group of dealers) is a Dinan dealer, I went to an indie to get my S2 tune installed. They charged only $75. I understand dealer rates are more than what an indie would typically charge, over double is a bit excessive. Especially since the tune didn't take that long to install by the indie. I went in with some questions about the S2 tune and the sale Dinan was running earlier this year. I ended up getting it done right then and there. The indie shop immediately took my car in and performed the flash.

There is a reputable BMW performance shop fairly close ( I live in a rural local so that's a broad statement) that could do it as they are a Dinan dealer. Decided to let Otto BMW do it as I am going there for airbag recall, was going to wait until spring when inspection was due. Wont be driving till spring after airbag but figure its one less thing to do.

I just noticed Dinan lowered the price of the DIY kit further. It's now only $75 extra over just the tune. For that money, it's a no brainer to buy the DIY kit.

I do 99% of my own work but I would rather have this done as things can go astray and I have no patience for it. To each their own.

Same here.. I used to work fully on my cars. Swap engines in my garage. But with these cars I feel better when my shop takes car of them.

A Flash tune DIY sounds great but I would leave to a shop to handle.

just called an authorized dealer" and the jerky told me that if I tune the car with dinan.. and then get a aftermarket cat less dp , the dp will need a spacer?? or it will throw a code and even then with the spacer it might throw a code??
I know the catless needs to be coded out.. but why the spacer for the dinan tune.. never heard of this

Dr Kay Segler, CEO of BMW's M division has promised, "You will not leave the car. You will not give the key to anybody else. You will smile. You will have goosepimples." I think he meant to include the 135i/is with Dinan S2.

the spacer is for the O2 sensor, so it doesn't throw a low cat efficiency check engine light, due to the missing cat. Looks like they don't "code out" the lack of a catalytic converter. Quite common in the Evo world.

Just to be sure I understand this thing; the Dinan Stage 2 Tune is additive to the PPK if you have that installed already? Or does this negate the PPK or end up with the same result, as if you didn't have the PPK?

^ Good question that I've asked myself. I would guess that it negates the ppk tune but still adds some horsepower? Most seem to see a noticeable increase. I will ask when mine is done in the next couple weeks. Suppose to add 47hp roughly so if you start with base 300 its still above stock 320 for 135is. Says 355 peak. https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...ries&mid=1159/

Of course, the PPK wasn't free, and how much difference is 355 vs. 320? I'd say probably more than nothing, but likely not worth the additional expenditure.

I know there are some people here who have the combination of PPK and Dinan 2, so I'm sure they have more to say on the subject than my guesses :-)
