Thing that stinks is that now there are lots of H8/Grp49 agm batteries on the market, all around 110Ah, but agm batteries can only be coded to 90Ah which is a fundamental issue and drives you to a smaller battery. Iirc you can code in a 110Ah flooded battery.

But I thought 1 hr was pretty good, though I don't know how long it takes to load, recode and write back to the car. Was under the impression it was a fairly slow process...
If it goes smoothly it is well under an hour. Should be less than half an hour. But things don't always go smoothly.

Probably a dumb question but...if you code for a new battery, will it overwrite your DME if you have a COBB tune?

No it will not

I have a cobb tune, its basically a parameter change and not a flash

Its basically changing an option in your computer, best way I can describe it

What do you think about the free flash tune? Is the battery charging strategy included in the bins?

I am also not sure about the COBB tune, because while part of the tune are the maps, which certainly do not have anything to do with the charging strategy, the first install of the COBB overrides your current programming with their bin as far as I know.

I'm having an email conversation with the folks at BT, and they tell me (quotes inserted by me) "The tool does not yet support the battery registration on the N55 engine.".

Rats...

You might want to look at BMWhat. I think it is less expensive and does battery registration. It appears to be easier to use than NCSExpert and related files. Probably cheaper too.
