Bluetooth Audio Streaming Options
Hey Guys,
I preface this with the phrase - "first world problems" Have a 2009 130i (non-iDrive). I was previously contented with USB/AUX audio from my phone, but since i've happily gone and paid for spotify premium, the bar has been set higher. Instead, was thinking it would be perfect if you could just stream off the phone via bluetooth (via a USB A2DP dongle?) in a way that also allows the media control buttons on the wheel to be used. It also circumvents the occasional unsafe awkward fumbling around my phone to swap songs whilst driving. also, is it possible to retrofit the audio streaming option? Looked around on the forums a bit, and most people had bluetooth receivers that went to the 3.5mm jack, negating the media control buttons. Thanks in advance! |

Depends if you need the y cable or not. If you don't need y cable, get the 2000, if you do need y cable get the 3000. |

I have the WMA1000 (http://www.soundlabsgroup.com.au/p/V...udio+Streaming) which you plug your y cable into. I think the WMA3000B has the y cable built in. Curiously it now costs less too

and here comes the noobcake question from me: is the y cable absolutely essential. saw the wma1000 that just has the usb port. wouldn't that mean you could just play from usb and operate the audio controls through usb.
what does difference does the 3.5mm connector make? |

@D2000
My bad. I meant the WMA2000. All it had was a USB cable with a bluetooth dongle at the end that works for both android and iphones. Figured you could just run your music and controls through the USB, whereas the WMA3000 has a USB and 3.5mm audio cable (aka y cable). |

Does this make sense?
"For BMW models that have USB / AUX-IN iPod integration system Viseeo tune2air WMA3000BBMW designed their interface in a way that the power to the music device was supplied through a USB port and a sound through the AUX-IN (3.5 mm jack) port. So if you will connect WMA2000 it won’t be recognized by this interface. The Viseeo Tune2air WMA3000B comes with a special cable that splits into the USB and a 3.5 mm jack and enables the Bluetooth connection to your mobile phone or music players leaving the original functions of the interface." https://smartworldcompany.com/what-i...0-and-wma3000/ Doesn't explain how playing off a thumbdrive works though.. |

I have the WMA3000B which connects to the USB and 3.5mm AUX jack under your armrest, no OEM Y cable required. Syncs with my iPhone and I can control my play list through my steering wheel buttons.
I have no intention in mating it with my tablet or Spotify |

dh58 let us know how you go!
In the meanwhile, this just came in from Viseeo themselves: "The WMA3000B will be the one for your car. it uses both the USB and AUX input to emulate the iPhone being plugged into the vehicle and then you can simply scroll through your music library using the steering wheel controls or original head unit. The WMA2000 is used for a very select amount of vehicles, unfortunately the BMW isn’t one of them at the moment! Many Thanks" So I guess that settles the query if the WMA2000 can be used? |

I use this for $7 and it's perfectly fine. You can't use the steering wheel controls, but depending what you're streaming, this is a simple solution and I haven't had any issues.

I've got the WMA1000 plugged into a usb & 3.5mm y-cable and bluetooth works with Spotify.
I can use the next/previous track buttons on my steering wheel but that's all. The CCC i-Drive does not show Spotify track or playlist info, nor can you search on the BMW interface. That is the one thing lacking between the interfaces. The tablet options obviously fix all of that though as you can just tether with your phone and control Spotify off the tablet.
