Cool, thanks Prof. I wasn't sure if I'd missed it on the TV.

Ratings for TGA this week were 612,000 viewers. The average audience seems to be stable at 640,000 each week. This is easily the highest rating show on SBS and helps to boost their daily audience share from less than 4% to about 7%. I'm sure SBS are not overly worried about all the criticsim of TGA.

i like TGA. its not as good as TGUK but it fills the gaps between series and its better then when sbs replaced tguk with myth busters between series. its better to have it then not.

The piece about the GTR was ok and seeing the V8 drivers doing the standard car was quite interesting...separated by 7 hundredths of a second! The Stig driving the GT2 was impressive too.

Yeah it is well below par from TGUK, but TGUK is well ABOVE par...
I think it's still decent for Australian automotive TV and will probably continue to watch it. Just think the main host is boring and predictable... |

I know this is the Aussie Top gear thread, but I've just about wet my pants on the couch watching the V8 Blender in the Kitchen segment on TGUK. You must see this, classic stuff. Oh, so silly, but soooo funny.

BTW, that means TGA ratings were down about 25% on the average TGUK audience for Series 10 and 2 that were shown in the few months prior to TGA. Not bad really considering that just about everyone who had anything to say about it reckoned it was a pile of steaming manure.

actually there are many intervening factors that make it hard to infer statistical significance either way. for example, a contemporary TGUK episode running in parallel may well have blown TGA out of the water more convincingly. and, i would say that there was substantial bias owing to it serving as a substitute for the real thing.

Forgot to tell you guys. I was invited to a Porsche drive event at Sandown earlier in the week. They brought every interation of the new 911 out there for us to drive on the track with the instructors. A few of those instructors already know me well so I was able to go ahead from the word go which was nice. Anyway, one of the instructor was new to me, but I knew him anyway. It was Steve from Top Gear Australia! I knew he was a Porsche instructor, but I didn't think he would still be working for them now that he is a star. Real nice guy. Had a few chats with him throughout the day and he likes what I am doing with my 135i.
