I was only able to do about 45* in the back. I found the big problem is its two pieces of sheetmetal on top of each other. I had to bend the outer piece flat to get that goup all out before I could roll it flatter. Something like this:

Got mine to ~45 degrees as well. Guy that did mine used to do P-car race prep for IMSA and WEC race teams. I got the goop 100% out before he even touched it, but he managed 45 degrees before the fender started to pull, saying he could get it totally flat, but I'd have a pulled, possibly slightly flared fender if he did.

He also advised against just cutting it out, despite the cleanliness of the solution, as the lip is marginally structural.

Awesome, thanks for the answers guys. Your experiences match mine, so I guess I'll let it be. The right side began to flare in a small area so I backed off.

That's what everyone locally says too. I'll tell you, what I tell them, give me the money to do it, and I will. I'll go set some 1-series track records.

I was able to get mine to 45* with a heat gun and roller. I took my time and went slow. I also didn't remove the goop inside the fender, just went as far as it would let me. I think it turned out great and i have no rubbing with my 255/35-18 Michelin PS3's ( they run wider that PSS's to my suprise) on a 18X9" ET45 wheel.

I feel ya. Been saving for over a year to do it, and keep wiping out the damn account for other life shit. Car takes priority dammit! (Except when it doesn't, which is nearly always haha)

I had a shop cut mine out a few months ago and it's been fine so far. I decided if it really did cause some issues then I could always use that as justification for going widebody

Yup, as mentioned by others, I netted roughly the same 45* on the rear. That seems to be about the max you can go on our cars before the fender wants to start pushing itself OUT... or basically looking PULLED OUT

Do you have pictures of your cut fenders? I'm interested in seeing how far out towards the outer fender you cut (at what point do you have to worry with the two sheets of metal seperating)

Just hopped outside to snap a couple pictures for you and noticed for the first time that the inner lip has separated from the outer one.

The cut is tapered from 1cm where the rear bumper meets the fender, to 1.25cm a little bit past the top of the top of the fender (towards the front of the car). The lip is just rolled past there -- I only was rubbing on the rear part of the fender.

First picture you can see how the cut is the closest near the rear bumper.
Second picture you can see the cut at the widest part.
Third picture you can see how even at the widest part, the inner lip has come apart from the outer one.

So that's going to cause an issue them separating won't it? You'll have to seal them back together so they don't rust inside. It doesn't actually look like you've gained much more clearance than just rolling the lip other than near the rear bumper. Or is it just hard for me to tell by the pictures?

My car will be back to the shop soon -- I'll have them take a look and see if it needs anything to be sealed. I do see there is exposed unpainted metal now.

It is hard to tell from the pictures, I have gained a lot of room. There is definitely more room to be gained if I were to get the sealant out / roll the remaining edge in though.

From what I've seen with my car so far though, I wouldn't recommend cutting the fenders unless you're prepared to deal with the potential consequences (1m widebody )
