thuleracks.com

advantages over bmw
1. universal clips (change car, keep rack or at least more flexible)
2. more options to put other things on
3. resale if you don't want it, again with different clips, that way you are not trying to sell just to BMW/1 series owners
4. this is all they do (or a big part of it)
5. made in sweden
6. looks cool
7. if you have a problem, I bet BMW won't be able to get it repaired, replaced as fast as a shop that specializes in this
9. looks cool...oh I said that... hmmm can I make 10? Warranty is better.
10. Better value

ok I tried... Anyway that is my opinion.

PS
I don't work for them, I was thinking of this aready and will choose Thule... probably drive to USA and get package for $400.00 CAD cheaper.

Thule or Yakima.

Personally I will be purchasing the BMW base and snowboard rack. I think it will give me the best fitments and avoid scratches. Plus the snowboard rack has a honeycomb design so air will flow through and not block it.

I have a set of Yakima racks with the wind deflector and it whistles and is very annoying. The base rack also scratches the paint if you're not extremely careful when installing or removing them.

I think the price is cheaper then Yakima/Thule because you need the same equipment plus the 4 Q clips which are about $30 for two. These are the things that scratch the paint and door frame.

I'm also looking for something to carry a surfboard. I was thinking of getting the base system, some surfboard pads and just strapping it down to that.

i think any car looks a little cooler with a few boards on top......... Im buying the rack as well for my boards. I could barely squeeze my short board in my e36 with the rear seas folded down.

hopefully there will be some waves on sunday.....
