I don't see any more M badges on this car than on any other M Sport equipped model.

The new Z4 is going to use the 4 cyl turbo from the 328 I believe.

That will be an available option but there will still be the 6cyl turbo of some sort in the higher model.

Absolutely ridiculous and downright insulting when it comes to the price. It's only $2K less than the 1M. It has no differential or anything "Special" about it less some badges. Pathetic. . . .good luck with sales.

Interesting play by BMW.

Car looks like fun but I'd rather wait for the next gen.

Car & Driver has broken down the price of a factory 135is vs. a DIY 135is and the factory option is cheaper. Not that many people would probably select the exact options that come on the 135is, but it's an interesting data point nonetheless.

This car seems like fun but at a really rich price. I've never been a fan of the front end styling. The car looks "surprised".

I love the blue stitching on the seats. I wish they did that in the F30/31 M Sport.

Right, I was speaking of the six cylinder model.

By the way, in looking closer at the E92/E93 pricing guides, I notice that they confirm that the N54 will remain for the 335is models. I would expect the same to hold true for the Z4 35is (for MY2013 anyway). For the Z4 35i, I could see it going either way.

I am fairly convinced now that the 135is uses the N55 because it will be in production for more than just a year or so. That is just my take though.

I'm a little bit confused. Does this mean that the E82 and the F20 are being produced concurrently?

Well, exactly which of the two did you think was not in production today?

Anyway, yes, they most certainly are and will continue to be for awhile. Just as the E92 and F30 will be as well.

To be fair, theres is more to the car than just the PPK. As already stated, it would be more expensive to add on all the parts after purchase than to buy a new 135is.

I think BMW pretty much nailed the incremental value a customer would get from this option. It is $2200 more than an M-sport 135i. Although certainly not cheap, do people think BMW would add on the additional goodies like exhaust, cooling, and tune for nil? They're in it to make money, and I'd guess BMW is making near 90% margin on this option. Why would they pass up an opportunity to make extra money? I agree that relatively speaking, the 1M was a bargain, but I'm not sure how valid a comparison that is given the limited availability and usual markup. If there's anything to complain about, it's the base price of the 135i.

same goes for the normal 135i, since this is a normal 135i with a bullshit factory flash and a hideous dash badge.

"In addition to its duties as a safety system, the DSC system on the 135is is programmed specifically to enhance performance-oriented driving." - not the case on the stock 135i where it's a f$#$king pain in the ass and must be deactivated each and every time I start my engine. And on the track if one forgets it intervenes so often that it will overcook brakes - DSC system freaks out and wants to visit mummy (whom resides at the dealers). It's a cock-up, I want DTC activated by default.

I don't see much wrong with what BMW are doing here. I'm looking for my next ride, I was considering a 135i with M sport. This is a little bit different, has the performance upgrades and in my case with a lot of driving in traffic, plus I think they're cool, I want the DCT.
The only problem really is the price as it's too close to an S4.

What's up with all these "if it only had a LSD...." or "no LSD no thanks"??? When has BMW ever put in a LSD in a non-M since the days of the e30? You act as if its a new concept. Don't like the motor, price, fair enough but don't act as if the lack of LSD is the reason why you wouldn't buy one...

would it be possible to let a family-member order a 135is in the USA with a Euro delivery and then import the car in Europe? Or did they close this loophole?

I don't understand the hate for this car. It is exactly in line with BMW's other recent "is" offerings.

It's not an M and it's not supposed to be. Of course it doesn't have an LSD. It's a regular series car with some parts from the Performance catalog and a few cosmetic bits. If it's only $2200 more than the regular M-Sport, what is there to complain about? You get the exhaust, arguably better wheels, cool blue stitching, plus the PPK of course (which comes with a lot of hardware upgrades that no aftermarket tune offers).

No, it's not the most bad ass car ever made. But if I were shopping for a 135i in 2013, I definitely think I'd choose this over the regular car. I would still upgrade the suspension, but a lot of the other modding would be done already.
