1er Sedan?

I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if BMWNA came out with a one series sedan? When do you think it could happen if it did?:roundel:

There have been rumors, but no hard evidence that BMW is planning a 1er sedan. I would actually rather see the diesels and hatches come to the US.

I personally think that it would look really retarded with 4 door on a 1 series

I decided to see if it would look "retarded" by doing a quick photoshop. I haven't gotten the rear door line and the kink in the rear window right yet, but I don't think a 1'er sedan would look that bad.

Agreed! Wow....that does look good as a 4 door.

Reminds me of the compact yet functionally stylish lines of my E36 M3 sedan.

Me Likey!!!

Nice chop!.
I think it's likely- 2 years ago the talk out of BMW N/A was that we would get a sedan maybe followed by a coupe and other variations.
Market research and some skull sessions (EniLab's comments on GCZ pretty well reported the uber-thinking and justifications from the bigwigs)
arrived at a decision to release the coupe first.

We know a cab is coming but also look for numerous variations such as an X1 SAC and Z1 (or Z2) spun off the 1-er platform.
It's going to be a packed fluid segment (small-fast-sporty) that BMW plans to expand.

Think of all the various sections that coud be part of 1addicts!

No thanks. It would defy the purpose of back seats. Ever sat in the back of an IS350? The back seats are a sad joke.

Good pshop, I would bite, if it weighed/handled/drove like the coupe.

I personally, do not like long coupe doors for DD.

Why is the poll for 128i ? I would take a sedan 135i

I'd take one over the coupe for sure.

Even if you're not hauling passengers, it's nice not having to shift seats around on the rare occasions that you do cart somebody around... and, probably more often, it will be more convenient when you want to put something on the seat/on the floor in the back, and don't feel like opening the damn trunk every time.

like brooks said, when first word of a 1/2 series was sprouting there was just as much talk of a sedan as a coupe. id say it is a definite possibility and id prefer it as long as it didnt end up weighing substantially more. it really is much more convenient (people, bags, dogs) ..pretty much exactly why vinazzurro said.

i love sports sedans and will still be my objective when i get around to purchasing and the 1 series is about the only coupe i would compromise that for

I would love to see a 1 sedan but might not be in the cards for North America. Maybe market research shows it would not be accepted by North Americans. Otherwise perhaps it should have preceded the 1 coupe.
