Step gear change speed software upgrade?

Howdy

Really enjoying the Step around town (95% boring stop/go), while the 5% on open roads I do enjoy flicking the paddles, enjoying my first auto ever.

I found the downshift speeds ok given I am slowing down and can't really notice the lag while lining up for the corner, besides the gurgle is worth the lag. The upshifts however are waaaaaaaay to slow for my liking, I have to flick 500-750RPM before my ideal shift point to ensure it changes at the right revs. Sure sports mode is fine, but I want to change myself now and then, ideally paddle downshift and sports upshift. I don't want to seem ungrateful given it is quick and smooth compared to a few years back, and probably some competition..... and yes I decided to go for the Step.....blah blah blah.

Can the software be upgraded re shift speeds, or should I start saving for a car with DSG?

Go and try the Lexus ISF... which claims to have the fastest changing gearbox.

And compare with yours. See what the difference is.

For me, not much. I can't change manual that fast anyway.

125's apparently have a different auto box than the 135's.

135 shifting times are quicker in comparison. So I hear.

I wouldn't be surprised, cause I find the 135i Auto gear change bl00dy fast! In contrast I was recently back in my 4 year old 120i (and wondering how I put up with its lack of power for 3 and half years...) and trying to play with the manual auto mode. Firstly it generally rejected 4 out of 5 down change requests that the 135i would accept, and then the up changes were very slow - felt like a second delay. Of course it was quicker than a second, but nothing like the speed of the gear change in the newer 135.
