Yeah so the Cooling Mist assembly is not what I was hoping for.... The 1/8 brass threading that goes into the charge pipe threads in, then has threads on the top to put a 90 degree angle on... Which means to take this piece out I essentially had to destroy it with some vice gripes. I didn't think much of it at the time, what a few dollars on a new piece down the road.
WRONG. This mailable crap is impossible to get out... I wrenched at for about 15 mins till it gave up now I got this mess on my hands. I am taking the charge pipe out tomorrow and going to to bring it to a shop, but my question is what options will they have to get it out, and put a plug in. Eventually I will either reinstall my meth kit, or buy a new charge pipe with two bungs. |

If you didn't wreck the threads, find two small nuts to fit the threads. Cross-tighten the nuts on the threads and back out the plug by getting a wrench on just the bottom nut.

Gonna bring this thread back alive for a quick question...
Seems like the charge pipe plug got vibrated out of my charge pipe during a WOT run... I purchased a 1/8" NPT plug... Couple questions: 1) is anodized aluminum an okay material for the plug, or is brass better? Or does it not really matter? 2) When installing, do I need to put any tape or paste onto the thread of the plug to make sure it is air tight? |
