Of course there will be a second generation , the current car convinces your head aswell as your heart that it is something unique , highly individual and is a great showcase for the next generation of M car especially when you consider that the M "rule book" is thrown out.

But you have to consider the fact that just as today in regards to the E36 and E46 they make entry level access into the M Brand for younger enthusiasts and in a few years the 1M will do the same for that demographic .
So we have to think about the longetivity of the car in terms of the customer and to increase the car's appeal for future enthusiasts which some younger M entry enthusiasts are more adapt in "personalisation?" . The current car might have an extremely short lifespan but that car will still be around in the future.
Pardon..........

Will these be retrofit, dealer accessory type things or will I have to sell my brand new 1M to get it?

My car will go into production in a few weeks so time is running out.

Changing your car from VO to AW have anything to do with it or is there more?

Cheers

Mark
That's what I am saying. My 1M will be here in 3 weeks. I really wanted a DCT and rather not put my car up for sale right after I get it.

Scott, can you be somewhat more specific on what's on the table for the 1M ?
You'll get lots of unhappy customers if BMW changes the concept and/or options on the current 1M, if they cannot be retrofitted.
So it's best to be clear about this upfront. Thanks.

It is not a CSL , nor is there going to engineering or mechnical changes .
The 1M Coupe will remain as it is.

It all goes back to the idea of a Personalisation Programme.
Which to look at the Moto GP car showcases some of the ideas originally inspired by that strategy.
It wont be an expansive programme but limited to some options will that become available for exterior customisation and in no way affect your order or existing car because it will be aftermarket ,officially supplied options.

It all hinges on the upcoming "regime" change at M at the beginning of next month.

Reading between the line, this means the stripes (Scott changed his car to AW) and the front lip. The exhaust is Akra and the black ZCP wheels are all already available.

Thanks, that sounds great, and sets my mind at ease. I can patiently wait for my 1M to arrive in June, knowing it to be current for awhile at least.

Thanks Scott. Can do me a favor and point me in the right director on where to start looking for these Moto GP parts? I am in the market for the wheel studs and the rear roll bar. For what others have said the suspension is KW and I will reach out to them for that.

Thanks.

It's not as late as you think...
The 1er Cabrio is in contract until 2013. And they have built two Cabrio prototypes... As a cabrio the 1er has a very solid structure with no body flex. And such attributes are desired by M.
We are in wait and see mode.

When official announcement of 1M Coupe it will determine whether demand will stay , increase or falter when the full specification is known.
If the Coupe sells out then you will see a Cabrio , It all depends on sales response.

So which one is it then?

This sounds like more Marketing hype, just what we need for this limited availability car.

Guys, don't plan on anything else for the 1M other than what you see now. The dealer add on's and parts from third party houses will come but nothing else from BMW M division, no DTC or Cab or 5 door or Diesel no Blue color nada just the way you see it. Notice it's a 2011 model yet all other 1er's are 2012? One year only.

It WAS on his Scott27 user signature over on GCF but it's no longer there.

It was posted here by another user (Superchargedman?) somewhere.
