What is the normal coolant & engine oil temp of your 135i

My one is engine oil temp107-119 and coolant temp 98-113!
Is it suitable?

Sounds spot on - mine is exactly the same.

I have seen the coolant temp drop to about 100*C after driving for a time and under certain conditions (can't recall exactly what those conditions are). One thing though is that the coolant temp always first goes up to about 110*C for a while before dropping back and it doesn't always drop back (I think I've seen it do it twice only).

How are you getting your coolant temperatures? My 2013 only has an oil temperature gauge.

I use the torque pro app on my phone and a OBD2 bluetooth adapter and while on the highway I see temps at about 210F and while playing around I see temps as high as 225F(which I'm wondering if that's okay). My oil temps never get higher then 250f thought.

I recently acquired an '08 135i Coupe (6pd, Sport Package) and today I took note of temperatures under a few different driving conditions.

The listed locations are in the SF Bay Area (South Bay & Peninsula)...
  • Suburban driving around San Jose, air temp 86F :: Oil temp = 240F
  • Highway, 30 miles @ 75 mph, air temp 85F :: Oil temp = 230F "steady state"
  • Prolonged stop-n-go along 92, 2 miles, air temp 79F :: Oil temp = 230F-235F
  • 3rd gear "spirited" climb from 92 & 35 to 35 & Tunitas Creek, air temp 80F :: peak Oil temp = 260F
  • 2nd gear "spirited" climb from Hwy-1 & Tunitas Creek to 35 & Tunitas Creek, air temp 75F :: peak Oil temp = 255F

Cobb AP can also log or live display any temp that has a sensor on the engine (air, coolant, oil, etc) on the AP handheld unit. I got a "universal" cell phone suction cup style holder and hang it from the windshield.

Taking this a bit off topic. But torque pro doesnt read boost right on my car - only ever gets up to 3psi.

Do you have a similar problem?

haha same. I realized it pulled too hard to only be making 3psi, and I googled a bit and seems that it happens to other people too. I think I read something about the sensor torque is using to measure boost not being the correct one... not entirely sure.

Yeah. I did a few 0-60 runs and averaged 5.7 on winter tires in the rain. Figured the sensor was off at that point.

Sorry to bring this back up guys, but it's 64° F here in Texas and my Kiwi3 is reading my coolant temp at 236°. I've already had a electric water pump failure that caused my coolant to literally boil away and made me go into limp mode in the middle of nowhere. That was replaced about 3 months ago, am I already having problems again?

As I said in another thread, mine run 215-225 under most conditions here in FL if I am in city traffic. (City traffic here is not like big metro areas.) On highway, I run 210-215 with oil almost dead on 240.
