Converting Transmission
I drive a 2009 128i, and recently I've been regretting getting it in automatic. Is converting the transmission to manual a possible option? Has anyone done it before?
Thanks. |

Just trade your car...it's more hassle than it's worth, and the ECU would likely need to be reprogrammed and so forth in addition to the cost of the new trans, clutch, and other required pieces. The cost would likely be prohibitive.

Maybe this is a joke? Is this a serious question?

Definitely a serious question, and I was hoping it would cost less to just switch over the transmission. My car is barely used and I've been taking very good care of it, so I would prefer not to have to trade it.

Best to advertise for someone who has bought a comparable car with a manual transmission that regrets not getting an auto, then do a swap. Perhaps use black book price on both cars to determine whether a trade is straight across, or whether a cash adjustment is needed.
