I have a problem getting mine installed. I went to both a muffler shop and a BMW dealer about trying to get it installed and both said its tough because the bend is so close to the weld on the stock exhaust and may not have enough room, and if they tried welding it on, if i ever wanna take it off the exhaust would probably be ruined. They said they would reccomend getting pipes to make it a full catback and it would be easier.
Any reccomendations??

Tell them they are full of it. The stock muffler is bigger or wider if you look at it sideways. The RE Ikon is thiner. If they cut close to where the weld on the stock muffler they shouldn't have any problems because it fits perfectly. Go to a real muffler shop or a place where they know what they are doing. Lazy fucks! Good luck!

1. Go to a muffler shop like Midas or Meineke. Those guys are the ones that won't charge you "BMW labor rates" just because it's a BMW. Weld on or clamp on, your choice.

2. Yes, the muffler was designed to show a little bit. Think of it like a hot chick showing the back of a g-string. You know, sorta like a teaser.

it has a real nice deep tone around 1500 - 4500 rpm.

i think its supposed to be like that, the only thing you guys can do to hide it is probably paint it to match the car's color. is it really hideous to you guys? i thought its kinda cool that i get to see the exhaust from the side too, o well i dunno

i dont have an intake yet, i might get it and i might not (my mechanics told me the stock is good enough)

I just returned home from work and my intake arrived. I looks bad ass man! The Simota intake looks sweet! The finish is amazing! I will install it tomorrow morning. I can't wait until I do it. It's supposed to sound really nice.

I wish. There was some really poor communication from SPP, and to make a long story short, wasn't able to get the install done on Friday. I'm probably going to take it in sometime this week to get it taken care of.

FWIW, Eric had a great idea on making the muffler not so shiny since it sits a little lower. I won't spoil it, so I'll post pics instead... I hope it's all that I'm expecting. I was totally bummed out on Friday. What a TEASE!

Muffler was painted flat black with ultra high temp paint. Sound is subtle, but gets a nice rumble to it between 2800-5000rpm. Past 5500 you're hearing mostly the motor spinning with a hint of a screaming exhaust. I think it complements the 330i motor very nicely, and am quite satisified with it. We'll see how she sounds after a few hundred miles. From a butt dyno perspective, high end has increased a bit. I'd probably say from about 80MPH to 100+ in 6th gear, the speed comes a little sooner and feels a little smoother getting there. Not huge gains, but somewhat noticeable to my butt. Also, the pipes were TIG welded. Here are the pics...
