adrean8j, your old 325i looks really similar to my old one, which was also my favorite car. I love my 135i, but I was younger with my old e36, and worked significant mods into it. I need to find some pics at home. I had ridiculously $$ RH porche rims with adaptive spacers, damn that car looked mean......I miss her. Can't wait to get through my break in period with the 135i so I can really start to enjoy it!

1988 E30 325ix coupe...it was simply perfect. They only made the ix coupe for the first year. Compact, raw, responsive, incredible in the snow. 260,000 miles when we put her down.
I LOVE the E82, but what I would do to get another '88 325ix. |

The best car I have ever owned (and still own) is my C55 AMG. It was my first true "performance" car, and it totally turned me from a mild car enthusiast to a major performance car enthusiast. It's almost as fast as the E46 M3 on a track (really a driver's race), yet it is slightly more comfortable and had better in-gear acceleration for the streets. Basically, it has 95% of the handling, and 105% of the acceleration of an E46 M3, but it came with 4 doors.
The C55 did (and still does) everything for me. It was my daily driver to go to work (even through the winter), it was my family car to carry my 2 kids and wife, and it was my part time track car. I became interested in tracking/lapping after I tried it in my C55 3 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. In fact, one of the major reasons I got a 135i was to spare the C55 the abuse it was getting during the winter and on track days. The C55 is now over 4 years old, and I plan to keep it a LONG time. Sure, the new C63 and E90 M3 perform better in every way, but the C55 still brings a huge smile and sense of satisfaction everytime I drive it. Now, the 135i has become my daily winter car, and part time summer track car......the bimmer gets all the abuse so the C55 can be babied and driven in better weather. Having said that, I'm still thinking about taking the C55 to another track day......I actually miss lapping in it, as I can't really take advantage of its performance capabilties on the streets. Oh, and the sound/feeling of that AMG naturally aspirated 5.4L V8 at full throttle totally blows away the sound my 135i makes....... Some pics of my C55 are in my "BMW garage" here on this forum.

For reliability and utility? My Chevy Impala LS. Had it 9 years/ 128,000 miles with very few problems. It was pretty roomy, comfortable on road trips, and could carry a lot of stuff, especially with the rear seats folded down. And with the Vogtland lowering springs and cop suspension package, it actually wasn't as floaty in the corners as you'd think....
For performance? the 135i, of course! For fuel economy? So far, after 1,200 miles, the 135i (although to be fair, it's been driven mostly on highways so far. Otherwise, that honor probably goes to my '88 Chevy Celebrity with the 98 HP 4-cyl and 3-speed automatic....) Worst car? The '95 Chevy Beretta 4 cyl. The turn signal lever broke in half. Then the driver's door handle broke off in my hand. Then the transmission blew out. Then the head gasket started leaking. Then the transmission went a second time. Then the brakes went out. |

Can't say the same of the more recent cars I've had from BMW, many problems with squeaks and rattles within the first week, soft close boot latch on my x5 fixed 3 times before a new one was fitted, problems with the folding roof on my 135 vert, etc etc.... |

2004 subaru wrx. my first performance car. I learned mostly everything I know about cars because of that car. It was a blast to drive, and could drive in any condition, literally. Never a squeak or rattle, just a real solid car. Truely a car that did everything....
135i is a close 2nd, but some days I really do miss my subaru... maybe if they fix the crap styling of the current STi i might venture back

Yep 1forAll & x5mad the E46 / E46 based cars were beautifully built for sure - those were the days, wish they'd return.
And bimmerboy...my 2nd best was a subaru impreza wrx - amazing thing - completely unstickable and full throttle clutch dumps for fast getaways were great....eau de clutch, haha But there is one thing I've promised myself and thats to own an AMG car - yet to do that, maybe next after the 135i. |

well i have yet to get a 1er so out of my three previous vehicles (1994 Saturn POS, 1999 Trans Am, & 2007 GMC Sierra) my 1999 Pontiac Trans Am was definitely the best (unless you consider my R1, but that's a mc not a car).
i learned soooo much modding the piss outta my trans am. i started with all bolt-ons: full exhaust, headers, intake, suspension, etc. then did camshaft, springs, pushrods, oil pump, timing chains, etc. all by myself in my own garage. Then i swapped out the old 4spd Auto for a 6spd manual again BY MYSELF in my garage with minimal tools and a jack and jackstands!!!! then i pulled the tranny out about 5,000 miles later, ripped it apart, beefed it up, re-built it and put it back by myself! it was one hell of an amazing learning experience being able to tear that thing apart whenever i wanted. all-in-all i dynoed it at 414hp/442tq before i sold it last year. was far from luxury though. it was loud as hell, had the most aggressive cam lope that you could imagine and the exhaust smell would engulf your clothes if you rode w/ the windows down. i got my truck cause my parents paid for part of it so they could use it to haul stuff instead of having to use their X5 or Denali. i hate my truck in that its heavy, burns gas like a mofo and handles like crap. its actually a nice vehicle, just not for me. but that leads me to my desire for a 135. i want a nimble, classy little coupe that has performance, amazing interior, comfort, enough space to fit one bicycle inside(with seats folded down), and of course looks great. after my dad bought a 2009 X5, i fell in love with the interior, especially the iDrive system. that's how i came across the 1ers. to be honest, i have never once seen a 1-series BMW in person!!!!! after exploring them a few months ago i started looking for them on the road and STILL have yet to see a single one! and i live in Dallas, TX, you'd think i'd see at least one!

06 TL? Drove it, owned it, kicked it to the curb after 1 year of torque steer. To be honest it had a lot of good qualities and was a great value but I was looking for it to do everything for me- cruise, handle, snow. It was meant as a "compromise car" for me but coming from nothing but RWD manuals all my life- it didn't impress mostly due to FWD. Although I'm sure 10k in mods does a world of good- torque steer addressed tho?

My second E46 ///M3 (05' silver grey) was the best car overall. If it had a longer warranty (through BMW) I probably would still be driving it.
