Wiring Loom work!

This week the boys have been working on the wiring loom. They've been trying to relocate the loom and will be working with BMW Technical on removing the computers and loom not required for a race car.
An intense week but they powered the car up tonight after some issues with one of the modules.
First photo Tuesday, second 5pm tonight with dash lit up!

Would greatly appreciate any advice you might get from BMW Technical about ways to disable the corner braking control (CBC).

As you may know, unlike the E9x M3 (which shares the same Continental/Teves control), it does not get turned off along with the rest of the traction control/DSC nannies and interferes with performance on the track.

Thanks.

Neil

Draft Design

We are still talking with Alphera Financial Services and Hankook tryes, so they aren't confirmed as yet.
The wheels will also be black. Some further designs to come.
Thanks to Dane for the designs coming through.

That looks horrible. This is a great project, dont destroy it with ugly stickers.

Take some inspiration from BMW racing

Another Design

We obviously need sponsors to assist with the costs. We are trying to make it not ugly!

Sadly we will have to gain approval I believe to use 'motorsport' stripes.

Dash going in and refuelling coming together

Finally after a lot of work with wiring and moving/ removing some components around the dash is now going in. You'll notice the motec dash replacing the Nav Screen. Nearly finished but not in this photo are change lights mounted/cut into cover above the cluster.

We are also working on the refuelling mounting in the boot (trunk) and then the seperation wall between this are and cabin, side of second photo. Hopefully completition by the end of the weekend with this area.

Still the goal is to be racing in 2 x 200km Races at Queensland Raceway August 10-12.

A test session beforehand would be nice!

Gazz that is the longterm plan, we are awaiting a 100 litre tank from England to go ino the OEM tank position. There is a chance it'll arrive in time. Either way we will run the Akrapovic system with the downpipes complete to learn the car. The standard tank has been prepared to be fitted to the refuelling system for the first weekend if required.

PDC not required. The bar still has the sensors but they aren't connected! In Production car racing they want it to look standard.

Another Design

I'm Happy to announce Alphera Financial Services agreed to be the major sponsor today.
This is another design option. We will be discussing with them further and finalising the design in the coming weeks.

I would like to have that 100 l. tank myself.

Who is your supplier for the 100 liter (~26.5 gallon) fuel tank? It's a one-off I assume? There's quite some interest in a somewhat street legal larger fuel tank that can fit the stock car, would this fit the bill? Speaking of bill, can you share the ~cost?

Why put a 100l tank in a road car? All that extra fuel weight, racing, very understandable.

Waldo, I liked the white/M racing decal set better, but understand that sponsors rule for good reason.

Looking great.

Yes 100 l. may be too big and heavy but don't you think the 53 l. capacity tank is too small for the 1M? My wife's 1.2 TSI Skoda Yeti has the same capacity if not bigger! I am sick of driving to the station every 250 km. or so when I am all in the city. They should put at least the regular E9X size tank in the 1M.
