I-Drive or no I-Drive ?

I have placed my order for a E91 330d M Sport Touring, which is due in December.

Saphire Black/Terra Dakota/Burr Walnut

I didn't go with the I-Drive as I didn't feel the need for this car. I have no problems with the system as I found it easy to use in my 7 series that I owned 18 months ago.

It just got me thinking how many of you new owners have opted for the system ?

Did you specify I-Drive for your car Yes/NO

I wanted iDrive and I have iDrive, no regrets. Only disappointment is that since my car is pre-september build RDS and MP3 playback don't work.

Congrats on ordering your car! Wow, the 330d M will be awesome!

I have I-Drive and love it, no regrets. I hear its got better since the 7 series version too.

I can't tell you the number of times the Nav has improved my journeys. The live traffic updates are a life saver. I've avoided several accidents with long tailbacks because I was forewarned by the Nav - love it!

We're having a UK meet in November, but keep an eye out for later meets as we would love to see your 330d M.

Enjoy your ride.

I hope so, I am coming out of a 996 Turbo for this car.
As crazy as it seems, I now want more comfort, far better fuel economy & more practicality than the 911 offers.

Sirees01, comfort is awesome. I've done a 6 hour drive to the Lakes and it was effortless and very comfortable in the sport seats. They hug you nicely.

I did a trip at the weekend, mostly A roads and motorways and I got 41.5 mpg. Your diesel will be even better!

Good luck with the waiting - my 3 month wait was agony!

Loving this car....you won't regret it (although a Porsche is a bit special!!)

Congrats on ordering your car!

I got i-drive, but only because I really wanted navigation this time. The single knob interface of i-drive is fine, but could use some further improvement to make it more intuitive. Still, in combination with the redundant climate controls and voice commands, it works very well.

I ordered iDrive. I didn't think the interior would look right without it, and the test drive confirmed it once I saw how cool it was and how there was so many great things on it, making it a truly useful device, not just a bauble.

Can't wait to get my hands on my car though!!!!

Wow, you're car will be awesome!
I did get I-drive, although my use of the nav system will be limited, I do like having it when I need it. The screen for the phone is priceless, I added bluetooth on my E46 and the one line display on the stereo was worthless.

And I believe you will LOVE this car, just like the rest of us.

I LOVE iDrive. No regrets. The integration and having a centralized way of doing things without much movement of my right hand is awesome.

I was in the same boat as you about ordering I-Drive and Navi. But I decided that I would regret it in the furture if I didn't order it. Now I have it and I can't be any happier that I decided to order it.

Not sure in the States. Here's a quote from the website of ITIS, the service provider in the UK:

"RDS-TMC is standard on all BMW vehicles sold with factory-installed satellite navigation systems. RDS-TMC is the only traffic information service to be featured as standard on BMW vehicles and will provide driver enhancement by allowing drivers to receive real-time and predictive traffic information from ITIS enabling them to avoid and re-route around traffic congestion on the strategic UK road network."

Lee Connolly , BMW Product Manager said:

"Following the introduction of RDS-TMC on the 7 series it was a logical development for BMW to standardise this important driver benefit across our entire range of vehicles. Satellite Navigation is a key requirement for many of our customers and with the added benefit of RDS-TMC drivers will be able to make informed routing decisions based upon prevailing traffic conditions. This could save them time and improve the quality of their journey and driving experience. "

It certainly has for me!!!!!

I got the idrive and I love it!! People (that have been in my car) that used to think that idrive (and nav for that matter) were useless and complex, now like it and will get it in their next purchase.
