Rim Repair

Is Rim Pro still the preferred place to send a bent rim or was there someplace else? Bent one Tighty Whitey yesterday from a pothole that was lurking in a small lake covering the road. It's bad enough that I'm surprised it held air.

I had a bent rim on my Crown Vic that was slowly leaking air (you know you must have hit a nice pothole when you bend a wheel with 225/60/16 tires...), and had it fixed at Rim and Wheel Works.

It is kind of in an industrial-looking area, but they were nice and the rim was fine afterwards. They seemed to be a family-owned joint. Apparently they are also a Tirerack sponsored installer, if that makes a difference.

i had a good experience at rim & wheel. ask about the bmwcca discount, it's good for ~10% iirc

i was also very happy with rimpro in tewksbury. might be a little far for you tho. pretty sure they also do the cca discount

I had a set of Volks fixed at RimPro, worked out prettty well.

Eina is a sweetheart @ Rim & Wheel Works, but RimPro also does great work. One thing about R&WW is that if they already have one fixed, in stock, you don't even have to wait. They'll just give you that one.

It used to be a hundred to fix a wheel. I wonder if that stuff is getting cost prohibitive these days. I know that refinishing it on top of straightening put the cost at darned close to a new replacement cost.

Thanks guys. I'll probably go to rim & wheel since it has 3 votes. This is one of the Enkei Tarmacs and will be hard, if not impossible, to replace brcause it is a competition rim (low production volume) and out of production. So, I'd like to get it fixed if it can be fixed. Two days later and its still holding air.

good luck miguel. i'd make sure you let them know you do AX...unfortunately a repaired wheel is never as strong as a new one

Tom has suggested that all wheel work goes to Boston. All local he has seen has been poor at best.

I had my performance rims done locally. came out ok. once i get my summers back on I have to do a stock rim and will do it locally again. not worth the hassle to me!

RimPro are pretty legit, I have had numerous wheels straightened from there and they were all about 90% - 95% fixed..
