Guys, I've decided not to do this drive day, as I've got a huge drive to Coffs Harbour ahead of me, departing on the Wednesday following this weekend.
Have fun, play it safe, and I look forward to hearing your stories.

Ah! The penny drops. You must be Dave's brother. I know Dave from the mini-mods forum. We've been on a few drives and track days together.

I did, albeit late (I arrived around 9.30 ish when it was all closed up)...so I did a couple of laps of dandenong rd where there were all sorts of crazy cars, by the looks of it, meeting up at Chadstone McD... lots of V8's with front runners and MT's - some serious kit. As for reefton, I decided to go for a drive up by myself and go visit a mate who as a farm in the area. Left home at 9.30am... Car was incredible - was actually very impressed with it, I've done Black Spur/Reefton more times than I can remember...in all sorts of cars: 350Z 220rwKw, WRX 210awKw, GTI 140fwKw, R33 320rwKw, F6 310rw, EVO IX 240awKw.. and I'd put the 135i somewhere between the EVO and the WRX, perhaps on par with the EVO!! Handling was excellent apart from the springs being slightly 'soft' - had amazing grip on the 19's - slight rubbing on heavy/high speed bumps (on one instance). Drove with DTC on/ DSC off - lots of flashing on the dash, but did not feel like I was being restricted, came into it's own out there. turned everything off and it was skate city out of tight corners... Did the reefton behind a warmed up S14 and R33 GTR....the S14 was no match (but the driver was not 'skilled' and let me pass...) The GTR tried....but I was all over him and spent most of the time slowing down for him, so he also let me pass and I lost them by the time I got into Marysville. (I even had time to pull over at the Big Culvert and take pics/have a ciggie...) I had to be back to Melb by 2pm, so I did - Melb to Warburton to Reefton to Marysville to Narbathong to Healsville via Blackspur then thru St Leonards Rd to Melba Hwy then thru Christmas Hills/Kanga Grounds back to Home 210kms - 1/2 tank - which is interesting considering the serious thrashing.... 12.7psi max boost 122 degrees max temp tried out Vortex....seems good! would do it again in a group. |

122 degrees maximum temp? Wow that is really low for serious thrashing. You have Active processor yeah? How do you know your max boost? What boost gauge have you got?

Went up with the mini guys yesterday. They couldn't keep up with me in the polo! Saw a few police, even one up around lake mountain which was interesting.
Also spotted a silver 135i heading up Lake Mountain as we were heading down. Up for a run with the 1'ers again soon for sure. |

Haha the Mini guys are obviously very slow given that we had no issue with your speed on our last run. I once had a Cooper S too and the Mini guys used to think that I am insane at the speed I drive (it was a couple of Great Ocean Road drives). Looks like nothing has changed.

little traffic. it was a great drive. Filled up at Lillydale and had only used 1/2 a tank when i got home, about 270km. although had to slow down a few time as my passenger, who will shorlty give me some of the pictures, was getting sick.
