There is a company in Brookvale where i am based called T Wall & Sons who does all warranty repair work for Col Crawford BMW with regards to all interior trim and convertable roofs. Now i may be wrong here, but i swear he told me last year there was a massive design flaw in the 1 series convertables and that BMW new about it, and was replacing the roofs. The car i saw in at the time was a 125i (i think).
Every time you speak to any BMW dealership they always state that it is the first case experienced, but i think they might be either flat out lying just to get you off their case, or it might be the first case they have experienced. I'll have a chat to Craig later today and see if it is the 1'ers he was working on last year

The rear window stitching on some verts was too tight causing the rear section of the roof, directly under the rear windscreen to warp and not seal correctly with the lift up section. That issue has already been addressed by BMW Oz as a ongoing warranty repair fault. |

Hi Zuzu, my 125i clone of your car has arrived. Picked it up yesterday! Done just 40 kms now!
My car is going in today for 3M film treatment. I am wondering is this roof defect an ongoing issue (I will keep an eye on my roof) and if so then will replacing your roof really make any difference in the long run - will it just happen again? |

They seem to think that it wont recur as they will be replacing the whole roof including opening/closing mechanisms... |

Sorry if I missed the answer to this Joe, but did they find out what was actually causing the bit of roof to fold inwards instead of out?

I see. I assume your new roof is folding correctly now?

FYI, had mine done this past September. Only lowered and raised the top a few times and noticing the rub coming back. Looks like they'll be replacing it again next season. My only concern is that they do it every year until the warranty runs out!
FYI, I'm in Canada and the roof won't be moving much for a couple of months. |

If it is a design fault. They have to make a solution soon. Otherwise it will be replacing roof and burnt their margin.
Does Canada have lemon law like in the US?

My convertible roof had a problem from day 1.
15 mins into my drive home from picking up the car I noticed in the rear view mirror that there was a ''hole'' in the rear quarter section just behind the rear window on the passenger side. On closer inspection it turned out to be that the string mechanism had snapped off one of its anchor points. This therefore meant the fabric did not fully close properly and therefore left a ''hole''. This was repaired but same thing happened again about 2 weeks later! They did the repairs again but this time left a bit more slack in the mechanism as they thought it may have been from it being too taut. However this has left the flap near the rear window not being flat and so you can see into the mechanicals underneath. They did tell me to bring it in after several weeks so as to let things settle so that they could tighten it up again. That was 6 months ago, been too busy to get back. Anyone else heard of this? I have not seen the same problem anywhere on the forum. |

Was the hole on the inside roof lining.. How did they repair the hole? Did they replace the internal roof liner?
