Kidding aside, I really wanted the Space Gray that they offer on the 335i. I struggled more with color on this car than any other I've ever selected. What finally decided me was a brand new M3 in Jet Black sitting there looking ominous in the way fast cars look when they're just sitting there.

Up here most of the new 3 series I see are either space grey or graphite so I picked silver.

SGM

I chose Graphite partly because it DOES show off the lines of the car better.

What draws attention to the shape of a car isn't how light or dark the paint is; it's the tonal range of the paint -- from the lightest gleam of the highest highlight to the darkest shadows of the deepest crease.

In person, SGM highlights can be surprisingly bright and silvery, and the darker sections are really dark. That gives every surface much more of a 3D look.

I went with SGM.. it seemed to be an easy choice for me... I will say I am not a big fan of white cars but the AW has changed my mind... very sweet

Besides my Civic Si which is black YUK, the 3 cars b4 it were Alabaster silver, b4 that was a grey Tundra, so grey, silver, and black are OUT for me. I guess Alpine is my only choice. Silver and grey are both awesome colors, but I see MANY silver cars around me, and many people also like silver. My choices in order are:

1. Alpine White
2. SGM
3. Silver
4. Montego

Colors not available:

1. Space grey
2. Competition Orange
3. BRIGHT Red

Alpine White it is.

You'll want to take into consideration which trim you'll have...shadowline or chrome. Contrasting trim/body color always looks better, with the exception being black on black if you're looking for that. SGM will look better with chrome trim, and TiAg will look better with black trim. Personally I preger TiAg with shadowline black trim vs. SGM no matter what trim. My dealer has a few TiAg verts and they look fantastic. One has gray leather though which I don't like.

I ordered my 2009 135i coupe in Silver with Terracotta and light burl walnut trim but the space grey looked good on the 3 series in the showroom and it may be available on the 2009 1 series.

I may have to consider changing to space grey if it is available.

Lighter colors ie. silver are usually used in promo brochures and photos of cars since they do show the lines better than darker shades ie. SGM, dark blue, or black.

I just put the oder in last week and may still be able to change to space grey which is similar to my diamond graphite Infiniti which does keep clean well.

But one can never go too wrong with the silver.

Silver is golden.

Space Grey is available on the 2009. Many folks have already ordered it.

Yep, it's replacing SGM... the color that I really wanted. After much debate, I decided to go with Space Grey. I'll just have to keep it ultra clean, keep it looking it's sparkling best

I just looked at the Space Grey in a 5 series on the dealership floor along with a Silver 1 series.

After careful review and consideration, I am staying with the Silver.

The Space Grey is still too dark and does not accentuate the sharp edges and lines of the 1 series as Silver.

The contrast of the shadowlines, front and rear, dark tint and mud guards will look better on the Silver 135i Coupe IMHO.

Space Grey is nicer than the SGM but not as striking as the Silver.

Silver with Terracotta/Black and Light Burl Walnut trim.

If I lived in Seattle, I would order the Graphite. I think that color looks great under cloud cover.

SGM, the only way to fly. I saw a SG 5 series this weekend, not even close to being as cool as SGM.

I had a silver 325Cic. It was nice but always wished I had picked the dark grey paint job that BMW had on that model. Now that I had an opportunity to get the color I wanted, I did not even hesitate to go with the SGM. It looks incredible and when I am driving my 135, heads do turn. It's sa'mokin...

I placed an order for the SGM after seeing it under bright showroom lights, and outside in the shadows. I would've taken Space Grey in a hearbeat, however as we know, nothing until '09. Two weeks after ordering, I saw it parked in bright sunlight....... just couldn't get used to the purple/goldy tint at certain angles. Changed to Tit Silver, boring as hell, especially after my last 3 BMW's were silver as well. With Tit Silver, if the wheels are clean, the car is clean!

To me this is a duel in the sun at High Noon. I like both these colors.
I went with SGM and I love it, Silver is also a good neutral choice. My last 3 cars were black. so I wanted a color that looked dark but I did not want black (again). hence SGM.
