Finally saw a 1 series hatch (130i).

What a great little car. Probably would've been a good seller in the US if there no Mini. The car was in Atlanta and had Mexico plates.

The front and side profiles look good but the rear looks like a Prius and VW Golf had sexual relations.

Umm, doesn't everyone know the end is near for the 1 hatches? We will be seeing the replacement in the US, but you better love 4 cylinders.

We won't be getting the F20 in the US, but will be getting an F22 coupe and F28(?, not sure of model designation) convertible. All info to date would point towards them having the same engines as the just announced F30 3er, a 2.0t and the familiar N55.

Never liked the BMW hatchbacks. They should have never ventured into that catagory. Volkswagen had that nich covered.

The hatchbacks are very common in the UK, they're all over the place! The coupe's are much less common, at a guess there are 20 hatchbacks to every coupe over here.

I always thought the hatches looked a little dated...

I've been to Europe and Australia this summer and every 1 hatch I see I simply shake my head. I cannot believe that at no point in the buying process did the person open their eyes and see just how hideous this car is. The Roundel letters clamoring for this car are the vocal minority.
IMO the hatch was a BMW experiment to see just how far the badge snobbery will go to make people still buy the car.

The X6 was the previous experiment.

Its different in London, theyre about 5 to 1 for hatches

Also thats why they came out with a new model last year?

Personally, I love it. I prob wouldve bought a 130i hatch over my 135 if I couldve. But then again, im just a sucker for hot hatches

I agree with the international guys. If we had them over here they'd be like seeing golfs/gtis. I rented a 116i on my trip to Europe this summer and the novelty wore off pretty quick.
