Maybe going back
Made an offer on a Porsche Boxster. You have a mission, should you chose to accept it. I am missing my Boxster. I have an offer that I that is great for my car. Looking at trading my 128 for a CPO 2008 Boxster with 16,000 miles loaded up. NADA is almost $40,000.
I had a blue Boxster before the 128 and this one is red. I miss the quick throttle response. The sound the looks. Help me.

Two totally different cars. Should be an easy decision for you. Do you want 2 seater with legendary handling. Or a quick good handling coupe.
My 135i does it for me. Even after 5 years I'm still turning heads with the looks and speed when I erase others on the highway. |

Porsche offers a 6/year 100k warranty on CPOs. 2008 might have been titled in 2007 which means warranty could be up sometime this year. I realize they are more reliable than our cars but I would want to have a warranty for a little longer to make sure any issues are fixed. Why not test drive a 135i Vert? You will get more power than the Boxter and probably get more for your trade in.

I agree on trying a 135i vert before pulling the trigger. I have driven both and own an e88 so im partial
Good handling feel on the Porsche but other than that, its the one car that they make that I'm least impressed with (yes, less than the Cayenne even).

Boxster? for $40K I would use some of the money for a used 1M and invest the rest. I love Porsches but not too excited about the Boxster. Sorry. I would even choose a 135 over the Cayman. A 911 ? That's a different story all together.

Best answer to all, base- warranty starts at purchase two years 50,000 miles. - not sure love the Boxster but could once or twice a year use the back seat. I have a 2013 128 did not know of a box to add and not during warranty period.
When I had my Boxster it turned heads daily if I met my wife in her 2013 Z4 out to eat and park beside her mine was a 2000 people would ask about mine. Now they just walk by me like I drive a ford. -- not that I want the attention just that I don't notice the car the same either. I haven't washed it as often. I don't go out in the garage to look at it just to look. I don't try to find reasons to drive it. I used to forget to stop and pick up bread have to go back out yea. Around my house BMW are as common as Ford and Dodge - now there is only a handful of ones but most people don't care it's just a BMW. As far as Porsche I see about 3 in a month, that was including mine.

IMO the boxster is a superior car to a 128 N52, but as some have noted, they’re not all that similar. You’re the only one who can weigh the costs associated with moving up to a Pcar, but just in terms of the automobiles themselves, it wouldn’t even be close for me. I’d be at the Porsche dealership now. Vastly superior looks, handling, cache (if that matters to you), and IMO superior build quality. I’m a Porsche homer, so take that into account as well

My 128 is a vert and and it's had it's top down as much as possible. Wife has yet to put hers down. I put the deposit down. Going out Tuesday. If car is as nice as they claim picking it up. Of course how rough can it be with 16,000 miles on it. You still have time.
I haven't heard anything else about this mod for the engine. To make the 2013 128 quicker. Someone please chime in here and explain.

Sounds like you have 3 issues with your 128i vert. You like the way the Boxter looks, performs and makes you feel better. I think you should get one. If you are looking at the one in Ohio you will be the 3rd owner. Check this one out. Cheaper than the Red one. One previous owner. First registered in 09 and it only has 8,384 miles on it. http://www.loeberporsche.com/web/use...inois/5578265/

Thanks. Has to be an auto for wife. Also not a fan of grey.
I think I have talked myself out of it. Thinking of keeping the 1. 4 seats warranty love the car and it is the smart move.

Probably a good decision. You would have taken a bath trading in a 2013. Having (2) 2-seaters in one family is hard. If you want to go out with friends, luggage for a vacation or decide you want an addition to the family(baby or dogs) it nice to have the extra 2 seats.

I was actually getting a fair offer not a good deal but ok. We have a jeep liberty. I have a son in third grade so the we have to have a third seat regularly. I also have a 22 year old daughter still living in one of my houses. She has her own car.
We are looking at moving to the beach after this school year so it would just be the wife, son and myself. With the z4, jeep( looking at a the new Mercedes SUV) and what ever I have. I think if I give the the 1 some time in the summer get some wax on it and top down, clean it up sand in the carpet it will be just fine. If not I will look later. But for now I keeping the 128.

Whatever you want to do is your decision alone. Though, I would agree that you would really take a bath on trading a 2013.
As far as "eye-appeal"....I live in the boonies of PA, similar to where you live. The only vehicles that people where I live notice are diesel pickups with the "big-rig" exhaust stacks in the bed, typically driven by 18-year-olds who are completely upside-down on the finances of the vehicle. I gotta believe that it is the same where you are. Besides, I buy them to drive them. That's all. |

Where are you finding a 1M for less then $50K?? To OP - If its an 'S' that's a no brainier if its not, and you really want a vert ya ok go with the Boxster. Not going to have a tone of guts but that only matters if you care. |

haha... 1m used prices are ranging from 50k for ones beaten like a rented mule strippers to nearing 70k for loaded models that look pretty decent yet ~10k miles on them.
for that sum it's tough to pass on a cayman or boxster with lsd. if you order yours without, smack yourself and change your order. I'd have loved a 1m for msrp even with the deal i scored on my 135 (which was rather decent). sorry but used to used, i'm buying a cayman s/boxster s for the ridiculous price 1m's are going for

Not less than $50K...use some of the funds to buy the 1M. There are handful for under $60K at the moment. You obviously did not understand my post Use some of the $40K for a down payment and invest the rest. I for one never buy a car in full since interest rates are so low. I put more money into my portfolio.

On the Base and S the difference is about a half a second in the quarter and about 19 miles top end. So in the base where can you go in the us 163 mph
