That's what I noticed too It's great to promote such a great car, but for a limited production run car they could've done a little less promotion imo and make a few more customers happy. I think that worldwide there are a lot of 1M's used for promotional activities, which will eventually be up for sale. I don't see that as a nice thing to the customers who bought a new limited production car

I love the car though Congrats to those who will be getting one

right, its shitty for the customers who want to buy one, and cant because 1/4 of the production line is for this crap... I say sell to consumers first, and spread the extra after sales die down, only after, especially on this limited run. it realy pisses me off that i more than likely wont get one because its sitting at that fucking school...

Was the last generation M coupe supposed to be a limited production car?

I honestly can't remember...but I do remember that they were nearly impossible to get in the beginning...and then were sitting around on dealer lots with a 10K prince reduction from BMW at the end...

Not saying this will happen the exact same way with the 1M, but BMW isn't stupid...they know they have a limited opportunity to maximize profit and interest with the end of the E82 platform, the "on-the-go" market reasearch of whether an M will work in their current entry-level model line, and this is the best way to do both.

You drum up a shitload of interest...with all the partial unveiling worthy of a car that costs 10X's as much...then you actually do a good job making the car a badass machine...set the price a place where many more people can afford it versus an M3...and then you say you're only making them for a year...pretty brillant strategy actually...to make the most money possible, which is the main point...

If you really want one of these babies, the best plan is to hope that interest dies down and you have many chances...like my dad ultimately did with his M coupe...

I would hate to arrive at the Performance Center for delivery of my new 1 Series M and be told they are not available. In short, it makes perfect sense to have 1Ms here to drive.

I really want to know that as well. This question has been asked a million times the past year all over the Internet by curious enthusiasts but not a single sole has been able to answer it (aside from guessing and relaying random answers from clueless BMW reps at the local BMW shop).

Somebody with an official BMW 1M owner's manual, please look it up. Must be in there somewhere. Thanks!

Good info! Thanks! And it makes perfect sense considering its engine. Could I persuade you to check in the owner's manual as well? Just to be 100% sure they followed the official recommendations.

Well, when we are told we cant even order one, let alone buy one becasue they arent enough to go around, wasting them on this shit agrivates people. Im sure every other top Manufacturer rival of BMW doesn't give out its cars that are "limited" production to driving schools before waiting customers... no, they go to customers who want to own and take pride in them, not trash them at a track school.

Maybe im the only one, but I consider this shit a waste.... along with all the damn safety cars they made. If there are people at the end of this production run still wanting an M and they wont produce them, its utter bullshit.

that's because many of those other companies don't even OFFER a driving school where you can actually learn to fully enjoy your new vehicle.

Don't get mad about the PC's cars... the PC experience is amazing. If anything, get mad about BMW putting their own employees at the front of the 1M line.

I agree, and it was fantastic to get to drive a 1M hard at PDC! I too would have been dissapointed to pick up my 1M there only to find out I couldn't drive one on the track. Thanks for a memorable day, Donnie!
