DIY Performance Exhaust Mod question

For those who performed the PE mod on a stock muffler:
Which one would sound closer to the actual PE...considering that N54 and N55 mufflers are internally different.
This is on a N55 car, otherwise all stock:

-N54 Muffler with both pipes welded shut (internal perforated Y left as is) or
-N55 Muffler with top pipe (3 large holes) welded shut, the other pipe w/small perforations left as is.
On the N55 the internal Y is solid, no perforations. I guess it's the same with PE?

I got a hold of a N54 muffler and trying to decide if I should use it for the project or swap with my stock N55 muffler and use that one instead.
