driveline vibration at 80+

This is strange, as I reach 80 in 5th or 6th I start to get a vibration from the driveline (someplace along there) doesn't feel like a wheel balance issue--BMW forman went for a drive with me and notice it also but is looking further into it--anyone out there experience this type of vibration?

Thanks G

Take it and get the tires balanced. I did and found out I had a slight bend in one of my rears. So slight they were able to balance it out. No more vibration

They did a road force balance on all four. Didn't help. It's in the driveline someplace. More so in manual mode. They are checking into it. We'll see what comes from it if anything. 08 135i 48k on the clock

I had what you are talking about exactly at 80mph. the under tray was cracked and off of 3 of the front bolts. 80 mph was perfect speed to create turbulence and bang that thing against bottom of car. It blew my mind that what I was feeing was the under tray. seriously.

If you were with a BMW tech, I would expect that this is not the case. but maybe peek under there and just check it out. I was freaking out for 2-3 days because the tray wasn't haging down while parked. I was chasing all sort of problems that didn't exist lol.

Probably not the case, but if it is - then im glad I helped. good luck

If it doesn't feel like a wheel balance issue, what does it feel like (describe it)? What are the conditions for the vibration to happen beyond being in 5/6th gear at 80mph? Is there a noise associated with it? Where do you feel it? Can you feel the vibration in other parts of the car?

one30five-- will give it a try, can't hurt

ShocknAwe-- its an overall vibration, passengers can feel it, you can feel it in the seat over your pants, a little in the steering, you can also hear it slightly --rt at 80 nothing then as you accelerate it becomes more pronounced--5th@75-nothing--6th@75 smooth as glass--6th 80-80+ vibration starts and maintains until you lift a little then smooths out then accel and its back.

A tech friend noticed it also--the BMW shop forman noticed it, but didn't have an answer, they balanced the wheels but still there--

Thanks G

Yeah bringing this one up from the dead I know....Every thread that I read with this issue doesn't have any sort of a conclusion.
Were you able to sort out your vibration issue? What was the culprit?

Had the wheels road force balanced--that took care of most of it--I think that I've just gotten use to the bit thats theres and have just tuned it out
