Hi,
I'm still on my BT retrofit.. I've removed the pedal trim to have a look and i would like to know what it was (the circle on the pictures). I have an other question, about the mic wire : is it diffcult to remove the Pillar trim? I have two Airbags Caps...but i don't know how remove them? And a last question : do you disconnect the negative wire of the battery when you install the BT? Thanks in advance.. Quicksilv86 |

that's part of what they call the footwell module in these cars and I think it's used for programming- it has nothing to do with the phone installation, at least it didn't for me. If you have the wiring up in there, then the antenna wiring should be tucked way up in there somewhere and you just have to find it. As for the mic wiring on the passenger side- it really was quite a pain to get back up in there- I went through the side kick panel under the glove box on the side under the A pillar, and then through the glove box, it was a lot of wiggling and suffering and just concentrating, but I didn't remove any pieces that said airbag on them or that had to do with the airbags

Hi,
Sorry for my questions but i don't have ordered the BMW Bluetooth Kit so my questions are probably stupid. I would like to explain why i had questions about airbags.. I don't have mic so i need to install one and i think i need to route the wire which connects to the mic. And i have to route the wire behind the head airbag of the A pillar as the picture shows Tell me if I’m wrong... Last question: do you have some pictures to remove the roof function centre? I've tried but it’s too difficult, even if i have the appropriate tools.. Thanks in advance bluetooth.pdf |

it looks like that is what you have to do per the pics from bmw, as to the roof FZD, yes it is a total pain in the ass to do I know, but once you get it the first time it's easy after that. what you need to do with an angled trim removal tool is insert it at a pretty low angle right behind the center of each of the circular over head lights. you should feel a strong, springy response if you have made contact with the metal tabs, once you feel that it's a matter of simultaneously pushing hard on them and down, once you release one side, try to keep it open/ held down while you release the other

if you're not doing assist, just bt, then put the microphone on the side of the unit closest to the driver- as in the pic- the mic clips in and the plug faces the rear of the car, then route the mic wire through the A pillar to the mic I believe- that should be it for the overhead console (FZD) on non-assist cars

um, you probably need an interior trim removal tool or tools and it probably pops off in some nice and neat fashion, other than that I don't know- maybe start at the seam with the headliner at the top? look on e90post.com because the 3er guys are WAY more into taking their cars apart- you may find something there as the cars are very similar

depends on what you want to spend, for $100 or so you can get one of those things that attaches to the sun visor. if you want all the controls to work, you may be able to get another system, maybe by parrot.

Some of the '09s are prewired...depends on when your car was actually built. The later builds I understand are not prewired. I was thrilled to find that mine was! I've ordered the kit and have the instructions for install on the way.
What I can't find is instructions on removing the plastic molding panels. Afraid I'm going to damage them trying to pry them out, especially when I'm not sure where all the clips are. Does anyone have pics or instructions for this on 09 128? |
