Yes but is it safe if I want to do a top speed run?

In all seriousness, we test our products so that we know they are qualified for what 99.9% of our customers will use them for. We can't tell you what happens at 190+ mph because honestly, almost no one has gone that fast on this car. We DO NOT recommend anyone go that fast in ANY car, let alone a car not set-up for that sort of thing. I can also tell you that if you wanted to do a top speed run, you'll want to tape your diffuser, hood, bumper, and wing down (all in stock form, btw) because the only E82 I know running upwards of 175 mph is the ASR car, and the stock hood was lifting up at that speed, the diffuser was coming off (also stock), etc. That's mainly due to the E82 only having a single hood latch, where it's M3 and 3 Series counterparts have twin latches. For extreme race applications or extreme speed applications, we definitely recommend a custom hood-latch system, or something to that nature, as we do special wheels and tires, upgraded brakes, upgraded suspension, etc. We have gotten up there a couple of times (with the hood and trunk on) and forget about the carbon stuff... the car itself just didn't feel safe at those speeds. We had to hit the brakes pretty hard at that speed and things got really interesting, REALLY quick lol... Let's just say Chris and the wall became really close friends for a second there lol... For the other 99.9% of customers, you'll be good BTW - make sure you don't do 190 coming down to MIA or we'll have to bail you out of the pen before you ever make it down here |

We'd use European Collision, Countach, Pro-Body Collision and a couple of other shops, again depending on what we/the customer wants to pay. Only an extra 3-4 days to get that done. Really depends on the shop, but between $200-300 to paint a hood is about right. Deep Sea Blue shouldn't be a problem. The issues are mainly with colors BMW has had for a long time. Alpine White (and other whites) for example, are a disaster to match sometimes! Again, if you want this shipped to a local shop, we can ship it straight there - Andy |

I dont think they were referring to going 190mph, but some of us are able to take the E82 to its electronically limited top speed (135/155mph), ie: myself and my fellow German residents. I would be concerned about the hood holding up at 155mph, or even 100mph+, on the Autobahn. |

We've road tested the hood and trunk for months with no issues at all. We've been to 140+ quite a few times and drive the car really hard in all sorts of different road and driving conditions - never had an issue, and their won't be. The only suggestions I could make to anyone that wants to take extra steps for extreme high-speed situations is to use aftermarket hood shocks (or none at all) to release any pressure they might build, and keep the vents open so that air just flows through the hood. We've made every step to make this as OEM as possible, and when we post the underside pics, you'll see we kept the same lines and structural design as the OEM hood, so this is as close to stock as an aftermarket hood gets A few race-cars will be running our hood and trunk, and those guys gutted all the shocks, latches, and are running our Race-Lite hood (yet to be released) which weighs in at almost nothing. They'll be running custom hood pins that they will be making themselves - Andy Last edited by iCARBON DESIGN; 07-16-2010 at 01:46 AM.. |

I have done this with the diffuser on and had zero issue, everything else was stock as well.
Yes suspension is some what of a concern (soon to be replaced). What kind of hood pins are available that are not ugly as sin?
