Love the work that is being done and don't want to rain on the development BUT ...............I'd be more interested in a matching set of these gauges that goes in the center vents. I appreciate that the install might be more complicated but if you did it for the center vents, you would have the opportunity to sell 2 gauges to each customer as opposed to 1 . Plus you get the passenger WOW factor.

The only additional development would be in the mechanics of the second gauge.

The development would be minimum if you simply wired "out" the display to accept a gauge manufacturer like PLX Devices who separate the brain from the display. (http://www.plxdevices.com/)

My preference would be - Boost and A/F gauges ? But the second gauge could be any one of the six brain boxes they offer.

Minimally, I would suggest making the middle vent faceplate and give us the option.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I see where you are coming from but this is my thought. Our corner vents suck...really bad. They do not distribute air in the right location and rarely cools you down. As a result, I heavily depends on my center vents to do most of the job required for the A/C. Thus, I think this gauge is perfect for that location since I'm not really using it for anything else important. If these gauges take up more room on the center vents and block more airflow, I'm gonna go crazy from heat exhaustion. hehe just my thought. BTW, I'm in Texas...its freakin hot down here.

And yes it may give the passenger wow factor. But it could also give the passenger wow, he is a huge nerd factor.

I hear ya but I hail from Miami so I know heat too.

Any loss of air flow from the center do to the gauges your gonna get a more pressurized air stream from all of the vents - center and sides.

But regardless, I just hope they offer "any vent" install. Plus I'd like to see a matching A/F gauge

I'll check out fitment on the center vents next time I do a 135 beta install/test fit session, but this will most likely be something we won't pursue for a while, mainly because of the reasons already listed...

I can already program the gauge to be a wideband AFR gauge, but then it wouldn't read boost, so you would need 2 gauges to read both.

Thanks for the ideas!

BTW... we are almost ready to open up for pre-orders on the first batch... I am having a meeting with the p3 staff tonight, and we are working out the details for anyone who wants to guarantee their spot in the first batch by pre-ordering and will be creating the ordering right afterwards.

I appreciate your well down the road with the side vent development and I'm sure it will be successful for many would like the gauge in the side vent.

Then there are people like me who would be interested in a center combo pack - Boost and A/F. The incremental investment is face plate.

2 x $ = 2$ or $$.

Woo-hoo! The wait is finally over (to order). Now I go to sit by the mailbox.

Can you explain the plug'n'play power option? What does it use to supply the power and what makes it p'n'p.

The plug and play power harness has OEM bmw connectors and automotive grade wire pre-assembled so that when you install the unit, you don't have to tap or splice any wires, it just "plugs right in" to existing connectors under the dash or center console.

Thanks!

Question - I assume that if you order the unit WITH "the switch" that the unit will work even though you do not have the switch connected to a tune?
Could you post a pic of the unit with the switch for comparison purposes.

The mapswitching is done electronically in the unit, on screen.

A video of some of those features are here:
and here

All the gauges support switching, but you only get the cable to run between your tune and the gauge to switch the maps IF you select it. Optional of course, and it will run fine with or without it. You could even order it without it and get the cable later if you decide to.

Yep, no problem... we hold units all the time for people, just e-mail us at contact@p3cars.com with your order number and tell us to hold it til a date you prefer. That way you can be sure to get a unit as soon as possible.
