Mysterious foam piece in trunk
This very recently appeared in my trunk. I cannot tell from where it came, there is nothing obvious missing above or below or along the sides. Any ideas?

Someone playing tricks on you?
We do that here all the time. Some guy is doing a big job on a car like rebuilding an engine or something, and someone will throw a handful of extra bolts on his bench and wait for the panic. |

Here's a shot from my trunk with a mirror facing up. Some sort of opening, it seems? Mirror is 8" wide, opening 10"-ish at its widest point. My foam piece doesn't fit this, really, but I wonder. I can get my hand in there, but the clearance between the rear deck and trunk body is very tight. The inside surface of the body is lined with a very high-density grey foam (different material than my mystery piece). Do other 1ers here have this same opening?

I'd start asking the "other" people who drive(or have access) your car where that piece came from! There is more to this story...

It would probably make for a nice piece of toilet paper
