A little birdie told me something...

...appearantly Order Specs have been released for the US market. They show a coupe for Sept as a 328 and 335. So umm, yeah. No MSRP or turbo-info was available yet. Also, on a sadder note, the convertible was not showing yet, although it was hoped it would be there for December. Not a total bummer, but might be a little longer than planned.

Anyway, passing along "some" news. Can anyone confirm this with their dealership?

What about the E90 & E91? Are they also 328/335?

Sorry, the birdie didn't mention the E90 or E91 as I didn't ask. I may ask next time I get an opportunity.

Just for comparison - Euro order specs for E92 in my country according to some BMW dealer birdie here:

323i = N52
325i = N52 & N53
330i = N52 & N53
330d = M57
335d = M57
335i = N54 (225kW = 306HP)

No power output changes for N52/N53 engines, meaning: 323i - 177hp, 325i -218hp, 330i - 258 or 265hp, 330d -231hp, 335d - 272hp (euro specs!)

Production starts in June. (*)
Delivery for our country (in Europe) in September. (Mind that we get some models later than e.g. Germany).

No more "Ci" / "Cd", just "i", "si" or "d" for the Coupe & Cabrio. (*)

4 new coulours coming with a E92 - Ultramarine Blue among them. (*)

19" wheels an option. (*)

More info available for public after mid February. (*)

In this birdie's opinion (speculation based on his BMW info) N53 direct injection engines will not be available in US, since they are aimed for Euro market.

****

Additional info from my primary BMW birdie:

323i, 325i, 328i, 335i, 335si, 320d, 330d, 335d - did not specify engine types (N52 or N53 etc) and specs.

Not all models coming at launch; not all models available in all markets!!!

Smaller engines for some markets possible later over the E92 life cycle.

335si = N54 (approx. 245kW = 333hp) - with ZSG gearbox!!!

xDrive will be available on Coupe later on some models.

US version 335i will have N54 turbo engine - but with slightly possible different specs than European one.

N51 2.5L SULEV II engine will be available in US in late 2006 - not mentioning whether it will be an aditional model or just replacing N52 in some specific states (e.g. California, New York) - having same power output as N52.

PR coming one week before Geneva auto show.

****

Legend:
E92 - new 3-series coupe

N51 - 2.5L SULEV II I6 engine (only for US market)
N52 - current 2.5L & 3.0L I6 engines
N53 - 2.5L & 3.0L I6 engines with DI
N54 - 3.0L I6 variable twin turbo

hp - hp by Euro standard

(*) - this dealer birdie info also confirmed by my primary BMW birdie.

Well shit!

So, it sounds as though that those of us that purchased a 2006 325/330 are going to get 'The Shaft' Only time will tell.

It just sounds like the 330i guys are getting the shaft!

But then again, he was mentioning Euro Models.

BMW USA could always deviate - like they did with the 325i (3.0l)

Maybe (pure speculation - i don't like birds) they will have a 325i, 330i and 335i giving them a tri-model lineup to me more competative!

But I think, that the d - Modelīs arenīt so important for the
Americans, they like the (big) fuel-engines - here in Germany
and other European states itīs other, more mixed, the most actuall
machine in the E90/91 is the 2-litres-Diesel , but any people
are waiting for the big-Diesel 335d with twin-turbo-chargers -
supposed with 286 PS!!

Soon BMW is going to launch a D3, a sport diesel model to compete with the M3... :rocks:

I would love a 335d, but the price is just gonna be too high!

Loving my 320d though!
