LeatherZ - Complete E8x Gauge Kit!

The LeatherZ E8x Complete Gauge Kit is now Available!!!

You pick the gauges you want!
On our other gauge kits, we always offered one or two different kit options when it came to the gauges. For the E8x 1 Series, I decided to try something a bit different. I decided this time, that I would let you pick the gauges you wanted to run in your car. How does this work? When you order your gauge kit, you will be given 3 choices for your gauges. When you select a gauge, the online shopping cart will add that gauge and any necessary senders, connectors, wiring, etc. to the kit. Because the cost of the senders will vary depending on the gauge, the final price of the kit will depend on what gauges you select.

Our complete kit includes everything you need to install a 3 gauges into your 1 Series. The kit includes the following items:
  • LeatherZ E8x Gauge Panel in black–Professionally painted to match the interior black plastic on the 1 Series’ dash
  • 3 Amber Bulb Covers–Matches the VDO Vision lighting color to your BMW interior dash lights...A LeatherZ exclusive!
  • a la carte selection of three VDO Vision Gauges
  • Oil resistant wiring in multiple colors for easier installation
  • 3 VDO low-profile U-brakcet mounting adapters for gauges
  • All the neccessary senders and connectors to install your gauges
  • Proprietary 25-page LeatherZ instructions with pictures

Someone asked for a picture of the kit in action. Not sure what he meant, but here goes. I am not sure how to get a picture with the boost moving, not sure if I want to try with the car under WOT.

Looking good! How hard is it to see while you're driving? Would you be able to see your boost pressure while under WOT without losing too much of your field of vision?

Wouldn't recommend a boost gauge down there

Does the Oil pressure gauge have an alarm that the user can set?

It will vary a lot. It is a straightforward install, it just has a lot of little steps.

I will install the kit for free (no kidding) in Cincinnati.

Just curious - do you sell a kit to relocate the cig lighter/power point for those who wish to retain it with this kit?

Andy,

This package is what I have been waiting for! Is this plug and play or is there splicing to do (worried about warranty issues)? Does the boost gauge go to a transducer and then into the cabin or does the tubing come into the cabin? And, what panel is represented by the 5th and 6th pictures in your OP?

The panel pictured was my original high gloss black trim.

I use a mechanical gauge so the tubing is running into the cabin. The boost gauge picks up at the vacuum line right at the diverters. BMW has a T-fitting there so adding a 2nd T is easy and you can go back to stock. There is some tapping into existing wiring, but if you are careful, it is easy to hide.

Feel free to give me a call to discuss the installation in more detail.

Another thought: any option for 2 gauges and the power port/cig lighter on the panel (hint-this maybe a seller as well as most probably don't need/want 3 gauges and also don't want to give up their power port). Food for thought...

But, I will order, but would like to either (1) know your thoughts on the above option (2) know when you are finished with your port diverter option you are already working on. I want to have a power port in the area to charge "stuff".

Thanks

I have a design for a 2 panel with the power outlet done. I would need 20 committed buyers before I made it. I could have them finished in 2-3 weeks.

I have the LeatherZ E8x Power Relocation Kit ready for pre-order.

If you are a tech junkie who relies on the car’s power socket to keep your electrics charged, losing the Power Socket for our E8x Gauge Kit can make it a tough sell. We feel your pain, that is why we are offering this simple, plug-and-play Power Socket Relocation Kit. THe kit is made of OEM BMW Parts. It is a replacement headlight switch panel with a built in power socket and a blank plug for when you are not using the socket. The power socket is in the ideal location to power a GPS unit or radar detector. Putting the socket close to the map pocket in the driver side door lets you charge a cell phone while keeping it close by. Please note that this does not add a power socket, it is meant to replace the one in the ashtray. Installation is a breeze.
