PSA: Check your tire pressure when you get your tires changed
Just got my tires changed (swapped to 225/40 front and stayed with 245/35 rears) to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s at Discount Tire Co, and they filled my tires up to 28-30 psi. Had to pump my tires up to 36/37 psi after I got home :/
Oh ya. Pilot sport A/S 3 tires sidewalls are THICK. They stick out A LOT more than before even though it's only 10mm wider track up front. |

Unfortunately, some shops don't always double check OE specs.
Good call on the A/S3. They're definitely known to run large.. even more than the Michelin PSS

Agreed! A lot of shops will, unfortunately, inflate to the max psi on the sidewall.

Nope. I'm in the northwest and we get maybe a couple inches a year. roads get black ice more often than packed snow/ice...
But from my past experience on my Audi A6 when it did snow here in the northwest, The Pilot sport A/S 3s are definitely not good snow/ice tires. passable at best and better than summer tires, but not by much... about the same as all the other all season tires... |

rears shouldn't have any problem at that width since people have been able to fit 265s on with no modifications other than a wider wheel... It's the front that's got rubbing issues with anything larger than 235/40......

If you have a spare wheel with a tire on it, try to roll that into the wheel that's stuck on the car. That's the best way I've found and you won't damage the wheels or tires on the car

Had one of my bolts torqued so hard the lug threads got stripped a little. Any of those Midas, Pep Boys, average joe shops are a joke. That's why I'll pay $120 an hour for even the simplest jobs.

If you are referring to your BMW dealer, most BMW dealers employ average joes to do tire swaps and oil changes. I have heard countless stories about directional tires being installed the wrong direction. The good news is they get it right 50% of the time every time!
