Are 128 non-xenon headlamps pre-wired for accept Xenon?

Pretty simple question here:

I have a 2012 128i with halogen headlamps. I wold like to upgrade to xenon capabilities, but DO NOT want to go DEPO: They are a crappy projector and IMO not worth the money:

I looked into Lightwerkz for a FXR retrofit and they want $1130 for labor and $410 for parts....ouch.

I want to see if the 2012 128 with halogen headlights from the factory are pre-wired to accept a 128i LCI xenon headlamp or a 135i LCI headlamp.

What I mean by this, is if I get a headlamp...can I simply connect all existing connectors into the ballast for a "plug-and-play" type deal and use the headlight.

As well, do I have the connectors to connect and light up the Angel Eyes?

I realize I need control modules for auto-level and adaptive (if I get a headlight that has that). But I'm not concerned about those and probably will not be bought and/or connected. They are not needed to operate the headlight: I have manual headlight level adjustments and don't need adaptive.

Thanks in advance.

PS - I apologize if this has been answered, I've searched and came to no answers.

Short answer is no.

User Satelite posted a new thread about his Depo retrofit, look up the HID kit he is using.
e82 lenses are notoriously hard to open. I've seen 2 cracked DIY attempts.

Proper way is to source a Retrofit kit from BMW UK/Europe, OEM xenon lights. the kit has FRM3(?) module and other stuff. BabyBMW may have answers. Cost $1500-$2000

Apparently you can fake a XENON look with the following:
Xenon headlights WITHOUT adaptive motors
HID kitfor Halogen
Custom wiring and coding

If you are going to do this, source the Europe lights without ambers

Please and thank you! That would be much appreciated.

Is our eyebrow non-functional for post-LCI w/halogens?

You would need to tap the brow to the city lights.

Your car isn't pre-wired for Xenons.. I did some quotes from my dealer and they wanted $1200 for each light plus labor and coding plus parts.

It's easily a $2500-3000 project.

That's why I went with DEPOs. The cutoff on the projector isn't terrible once adjusted properly but it isn't by means perfect. The HID kit is a must on these! Can't use old H7 bulbs or you will be blind at night

So I can tap the city lights now to get the LED brow to work? cool.

With that being said...is there anyway to remove the DRLs from the highbeam with allowing the LED brow to still function as your "DRLs"

Or is there another city light that I do not know about?

I ran DEPOs on my E46 and wasn't too impressed to be honest. Constant condensation issues were a pain and the cut-off left a lot to be desired.

After having mine resealed by Luis I haven't seen any problems with condensation or leaking. I think the 'stock' DEPOs just have a bad sealing process to begin with.

^^ From who?

I like the European Halogens with the brow. They look right without the Amber corner

Now there is a thought. I wonder if the amber can be peeled off to reveal the white. I agree with the previous poster that the white fits the car best.
Ill have to find out when I take the headlights apart.

Yes it can be. It will need some paint though over the areas with glue residue

Lightwerkz does a good example.

http://www.lightwerkz.net/gallery/in...BMW/1350220335

I was going to go with the Lightwerkz Route for an FXR retrofit. But they want $1130 for labor and for a DS2 Projector they want $410. It is really steep but they do an awesome job.

This is a good reference. At least it's been done before. I wonder if they sold it to someone or if they built it just to have it to see if any 1er guys would be interested
