ICARBON hood and trunk in the mail! Updated with pics!!!

I have ordered the Icarbon vented hood and CSL trunk for my jet black 135i and would like some opinion, pics if possible, of whether or not I should paint it on a jet black coupe.

I say paint them both, but keep the vents exposed, and the edge of the trunk lip exposed. Would look sick.

They will be here Thursday and I have a friend who is going to help me put them on. Once I get them on do I need to take them off again to paint or will they mask things off and paint?

painting carbon is pointless... if u wanted something to paint get fiberglass.. most people that buy carbon buy it for weight and how it looks... but to each is own i guess..

Very true and I really want to leave it cf, just not sure how it will look on a black car.

Does anyone have any pics or opinion based on seeing it in person?

From far distance, you won't even be able to tell. Close up tho, that's a whole difference story.

Here's a pic of a black m5 with cf hood. as an example. To each his/her own:

My car is BSM. For sure if I buy an aftermarket CF hood or trunk I'll leave it unpainted at first. As it starts to look less glossy over the next year or two I'll probably paint it, leaving the vents CF. Paint might look better but over time paint deteriorates and is expensive. If my car was anything other than black or gray then I'd paint a CF hood or trunk.

A black car is the perfect color to leave the CF UN-painted .It will look really nice left alone. Down the road you alway's have the option to paint.

I say don't!

But I might be biased since I didn't paint mine. The CF blends nicely with black from a moderate distance and up close the contrast is nice when looking at the weave. I don't think a high quality CF product on a nice car is "rice". A crappy crooked weaved sheet of carbon on a 90's civic is "rice"

Also, you can always paint it later if you leave it now. You can't un-paint it if you miss admiring the CF

I would say make a design out of it. I've never been a fan of fully exposed CF, but on a black vehicle, it doesn't look too bad if left unpainted. Here's a pic of my previous M3 which I had the CF hood partially painted. IMO, it gives it a more "finished" look as it's just not slapping on the hood out of the box. Of course its your car so you can do what you will, but I've always been a fan of partially painting it.
