Lol don't get me started on iCarbon! I had my name down for an M3 style hood in the official group buy like everyone else... they stretched things out for months and months, assured me on many occasions I would not miss out. Then the last time I hear from them is almost 2 months ago saying they've sold out, without any apologies! They said maybe I can try and buy one from DTM at full price. They haven't replied to any of my emails since then, they've made it pretty clear their solution to the problem is to ignore me until I go away. I'm really disappointed with how they handle their situations so I can understand why they have such a bad reputation. I think their parts are hit and miss too but this wasn't stopping me from buying their hood, I already have their diffuser, lip and mirrors. End Vent!
If there is a carbon fiber solution for these vents I am definitely interested. I'd like to see a couple side by side comparisons photos of stock vs the cut too. |

I know it seems I'm more of the exception rather than the rule but I don't think I ever waited more than 2 days for a response from them.

I'm curious, do you think the horizontal piece helps route air to the oil cooler? While I love the look with it cut out, could it possibly be more than just a design element?

Take a hacksaw blade out of the frame and wrap a cloth around the end you are going to hold. Gently saw through each end, keeping the blade flat to the plastic surround. With a "fine" file, gently smooth any roughness left by the hacksaw blade. Done

Something like the E90's M3 would look nice.. its like ours but not split into 2 halves. Don't need it in CF or have 2 options..

i looked into it with the company I'm working for now... the R&D on it is crazy expensive, probably not worth what you could potentially make back on selling um. if it was a few grand, sure give it a shot... we're talking $10-15k to get a proper mold made and fully mocked up. Then you gotta invest in making the stuff with supplies, then if you sell um, what would people pay? $199 max? probably not enough of a market. You sell 100 of um and you made $20k but it cost you $20k to do in the 1st place.

Did mine this past weekend. One benefit is that its now a lot easier to clean back in there. Hit it with some Vinylex and it looks great. Sorry for the camera phone pictures.
