Question about ordering and financing

Planning on ordering a 135. My dealer told $1000 down to order, fine. Now, do I need to be approved by some financial institution(BMW financial, credit union etc) before I can order? Basically pre approved? Or does $1000 get the order placed?

Asking mostly because during the time from order to delivery I will probably qualify for a much better rate of finance. I would rather apply for financing in sept or oct than right now.

$1000 gets the ordered placed. They worry about financing later.
