GTS-R vs. MSW Type 16
I am deciding between the GTS-R ($306) and MSW Type 16 ($153) for my Jet Black 135i. I like the look of the GTS-R but they're twice as expensive. Any thoughts on the two?

I love the Breytons. And I'm betting that they are more expensive because they are lighter. I was suprised at how light they are. If weight isn't a factor, I would go for the more unique MSW's. Everybody and thier grandma has the Breytons.

Yeah I agree. Go with something different. Why get what everyone else has, especially if they cost less. What size are you going with?

I'll probably stick with 18s because my stock tires are nowhere needing replacement and I don't want to buy new ones yet. And while the cheaper wheels are certainly worth considering, the big weight difference might be worth the price of the more expensive wheels.

Judge, just a heads up....
I have a used set of Black GTS-R's(red stripe) if your interested. One wheel had to be repaired because discount tire scratched the rim when removing the factory run flat tire. The rim was repaired and you can't tell it was touched up. I'll be posting the wheels up in a day or two with pics on the forums. I'm still trying to determine what price I will be asking, but the rims are in great shape and have never been curbed.

Why get something "worse", just to be different? I'm all for individuality, but I'd rather spend my money on a better product regardless of whether everyone has it or not. I got the breytons because they look great, fitment is perfect (designed specifically for our cars), and they are lighter than stock. And you can't beat the price either. Everyone on the forums might have them, but the chance of you seeing another 1er with breytons is pretty slim IMO. Hard enough spotting another 1.

It just seems like everyone has them because we don't have many choices..i dont see many 1'ers on the road as it is...i have never seen one in person with those Bretyons which have proper offsets and very light..i would go with them

I'm likely going with Breyton even though I'm not yet sold on the performance advantage. I just read an article somewhere that with new tires and GTS-R wheels the author still could only match his initial 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds with stock. However I guess with the bar set that high you can't expect to beat that time with simply lighter wheels.

There's really nothing to be sold on. Lighter wheels are better, period. My quad exhaust really doesn't do much except sound better, but it's lighter than stock somehow, so it's better IMO. Unsprung weight reduction helps tremendously with braking, accel, etc. You might not see huge gains in 0-60 but that could be a number of reasons. Like you said, the bar is set high. I would think tires would become a problem before the weight of the wheels when running at the lower end of the powerband. Get what you like. I love the breytons and recommend them whole heartedly. If you can afford them get them!

Good to hear that. I can't wait to get back to the states. It's gonna be nice to be different for a change.

Anyone know if the "suction cup" method works on the Breyton caps? There are a few different combinations I want to try out and would like to avoid removing the wheels if possible.

I saw the MSW type 16 during the winter on tirerack and thought wow, that's a good price. But I had done some searching for cars with them on and did not like what I saw. They looked a bit cheap, smallish and looked to boy racer. Here is a pic on a white audi a4:
