Anyone running E90/92 spec coilovers

As titled, anyone running E90/92 spec coil overs? I know they bolt straight up to our suspension no problem. Only difference are some slight mis-matched adjustments (in which im not even 100% sure of) due to the differences in weight I believe.

There are so many more used coilover options on the e90post forums.

So I'm wondering, any of you 1addicts rocking e90/92 spec suspension?

I'm eyeing the KW V1/2/3's mainly but open to any other quality brands as well.

I would guess that they are generally different spring rates...heavier cars generally have heavier spring rates

Ohlins use very low rear rates and will work just fine on both the 1 and 3-series.

They're totally 100% identical unless you want to change spring rates.

I'd love to get a set of those but I feel their out of my price range.

I'm primarily looking at some KW V2/3's as their pretty common and what I consider to be fairly high quality.

Anyone know the spring rates on those?

That is correct. KW V3 doesn't have nearly the ride quality or the performance of the Ohlins R&T.

How does it compare to the kw clubsports? Circa 3k i know, but they come with ~$400 vorshlag camber plates - so about the same price as the ohlins?

Ohlins have camber adjustable strut tops, camber plates not needed

http://www.**********s.com/Ohlins-Road-Track-Coilovers-BMW-E82.htm

Says includes camber adjustable mounts

So does the road and track website

If not, well that's not good! False advertising :/

Camber adjustable upper and lower mounts... I wonder if that actually means allowance for eccentric bolts

My price range is around the $1200 ball park. Ohlins would be too pricey for what I am looking for.

I've been checking the E90post sale forums lately and honestly the only brand that ever pops up are KW's & ST Speed Tech coils. Which also happen to be under the same company.

How much more are the spring rates for the E90/92 spec coils vs. the E82 1-series ones.

I looked at the thread on e90post and I see the rates here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235797

Lastly, since I'm looking on the used market. How long do coils generally last?

120 (pounds per inch) = 2.14295608 kilograms per millimetre ?!?!?! (stock non sport)

wow, yeah, fronts are 7kg/mm (390lb/inch)
rears are 11kg/mm often (615lb/inch)

for mine

as you see in that post, it varies per brand/model

3 series and 1 series coilovers are 100% identical though (spring rates and all) unless you customize them

I'm not sure if thats completely true. I know the parts themselves bolt up 100% identically. And maybe even the strut is the same part #. But what differs is the spring rate if I am not mistaken.

Thats where my question lies, what are the spring rates on KW V1's for E82 vs the ones on E90/92.

Just an update on some added information for all you guys. I still hadn't found my definite answer as to the differences are between the E90/92 vs E82 coilovers on the KW/SpeedTech [made by KW, essentially same as V1] brand. So I decided to shoot an email to the company directly.

What I had sent:
Quote:
I'm looking for a set of coilovers for my BMW 2008 135i. I was wondering what the differences are between the E82 (135i) spec V1/V2's & the Speedtech ST Coilovers are verses the E90/92 (335i) spec V1/V2's & ST's.

I know that in terms of bolting up to the chassis they are exactly alike, and I should have no problems with installing either in my 135i.

But my question lies with what's different between the 135i & 335i V1/V2/ST's.

Are the struts themselves exactly alike, but with a slightly higher spring rate? That's my best guess, and what people on forums have said.
But I'm after a definitive answer before choosing a set that I'd like.

Specifically, if the spring rates are the only thing that's different between 135i/335i Coilovers. Then could you possibly provide me the specifics as to what the spring rates are at.
& the response I got back:
Quote:
Thank you for contacting KW Suspension, the difference between the 135i and 335i coilover kits are going to be the rear dampers. Both kits use progressive or variable rate springs which we do not rate because technically you will never know what rate the spring is at while driving because the vehicle height is infinitely changing. With that said I would also recommend running our Variant 2 system specific to your 135i that is height and rebound adjustable, the housings are stainless steel and will not corrode, they also come with a limited lifetime warranty in the event that you ever have any issues. I have included the part number and MSRP $ below.

Variant 2- 15220039 MSRP $1949.99
I also looked at the KW site and noticed the height drop with the E90/92 & E82 were different.

E82 Drop:
KW Coilover Kit V2
KW Coilover Kit V2 BMW 1series E87 Learn More
Part #: 15220039
Front Lowering: 1.4" to 2.5"
Rear Lowering: 1.4" to 2.1"

E90/92 Drop:
KW Coilover Kit V2
KW Coilover Kit V2 BMW 3series E90 Learn More
Part #: 15220032
Front Lowering: 1.2" to 2.3"
Rear Lowering: 0.9" to 2.1"
