Blackline appearance

I have a '13 135is, I want to get the black line (tinted) appearance without having to buy new tail lights. Does anyone sell a tinted rear light lens for the tail lights? Does anyone have pics of them installed? I don't feel like spending the money on something that I already own which is almost identical. Any suggestions?

I don't know if I'm reading your post right or not, but you can't just get a tinted outer cover for the lights.

You can, however, get some tail overlays or get them sprayed at a body shop with a mixture of clear/black paint to get a tinted appearance.

see below for an example of overlays:

Any type of overlay won't give the same effect, it will lack depth and won't look as exotic as the real ones. From a distance they might look similar though.

I was hoping more for a replacement plastic piece that i would disassemble the tail light and put a new hard plastic cover on. I'm not a fan of overlays and would never go that route, kind of like putting makeup on a pig IMO. I may just have to bite the bill it and purchase black lines.

Radiance dye is what you would have them add to clear coat for a tinted look.

The dye is just added to the clear, more dye the darker the tint. They look just as shiny as new only darker.

But yea just buy the black lines as you will have less to worry about as sometimes you may have paint separation later in the ears.

You have a BMW... Pay to play. I tried to go cheap and tint my lenses with night shades & it did the trick for a while. Two years later Blacklines came out I have them now and they are amazing.

Yeah, disassembly is not an option.

Honestly, $350 for a set of OEM blackline tails isn't a bad deal.
