Bad news is that the Elektra has slowed to a crawl. Last update had the monstrous ship sailing head into a 55mph wind. That strong a wind & the ship may start going back to Germany!

All is good though - gives me some more time to pull out some mods on my E46.

As of 1/24 at 6:00pm EDT, the Elektra is 518 miles away from Halifax, NS, Canada. Since it's departure on Saturday, it has traversed 2,244 nautical miles. If it continues it's current pace, it should be in port by midnight tomorrow (Thursday). Lately though it's been picking up the pace, so it could end up reaching port earlier.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the whole sailwx.info site very interesting. The Elektra has reported position EVERY 6 hours and along with the lat/long pos it also reports water temp, air temp, wind speed, wind direction, etc. Pretty cool stuff. And a very ingenious use of shipping vessels so scientists can study the earth.

gazi8 - Looks like the Elektra has stopped reporting. It should be in Halifax, NS, Canada very soon, if not now. To promote the obsession, I did a search and turned up this:

It's a webcam of the harbor where the Elektra will pass through (and possibly dock).

It's probably too late as the Elektra may be gone, but I figured this might be good info for those who will be looking to the Port of Halifax for their new BMW. These are actual webcams AT the Port of Halifax where the Auto Terminal is.

Thanks to my Mac recording screenshots of the webcam, I was able to grab a few frames of the Elektra leaving Halifax & heading back out to sea, at 4:14 PM EDT.

Ok, looks like Elektra made it to NY. I spoke to my sales guy yesterday and he said if the car makes it to port today, I should have it by wednesday! Yay!

Wednesday is very optimistic - although I'm not complaining. Considering the VDC is only 45 miles away from my dealership, I'm hoping I have it soon! The WW site shows the Elektra has departed NY, which means my car is now on American soil.

If there were only a webcam at the NJ NEAT / VDC!

I have the same thing. Finally the car is in the US. I think Friday would be a better pickup day for me as this week will be busy for me at work. I just hope it doesn't rain, even though they are saying rain is in the forcast around here.

Just hung up with my SA - he said that he expects I'll be able to take delivery early next week. I asked if he thought this week was possible, and while it's in the realm of possiblity he doubted it. This is coming from a dealer in South Jersey, which is less than 50 miles away from the VDC.

Just found out that my car has not been released from VDC yet. SA contacted the Port & they're telling him one of the wheels was damaged & they are awaiting a new one. VDC has put priority on issue & hopes to have new wheel by end of week.

Is this cause for a B.S. Flag? It takes a week for the VDC to obtain a new style 162 wheel?

One week sounds too long, make sure you use this to your advantage to renegotiate on the price. Tell them it caused you a big inconvenience. I picked up my car last Friday. The car came in on Thursday evening and I live in VA. Both our cars arrived on the same ship at the same time!
