Doran Racing 128i Homestead Report

Another tough one for the #14 Office Depot / Intersil/ theBMWpartStore.com BMW 128i's. Tim Bell was able to qualify the car in 12th position and worked his way through the first 50 minutes handing the car off to BJ zacharias in 8th position. Lady luck dealt the team her first blow when a puncture on the left front tire forced them to make an additional stop...putting them down a lap in ST.
Continuing to "chop wood" the #14 car hunted down, passed and pulled away from the class leaders getting back onto the lead lap.
With 15 minutes to go...lady luck flirted with the team giving them a fortunate full course yellow bunching up the field. Wheeling the car in the final 10 minutes.. and breaking just inside the top 10 ...until 3 laps to go...Lady luch again struck when 4th gear let go..pushing the car back to #14 back to 14th at the checkered flag.
The race will air on Speed Channel this Saturday.
The car has show great speed and consistency in the first 2 rounds and looks forward to Round #3 in April.
Development will continue with the team and now has Powerflex Bushings onboard.
