New M3/M4 Carbon Ceramic Brakes on 1M?
wondering if it'll fit. Seeing how all the aftermarket options are quite pricey, maybe we'll find some M3/M4 with ccm that are willing to part out.
Or does anyone know the price BMW is selling their CCM for? Will it even fit us?

Someone posted that the bolting pattern has changed between E89 5x120*M12 to FXX 5x120mm*M14. This would not necessarily prohibit a fit, have not yet looked into the axial dimensions. Let's hope someone pioneers this and an adapter kit for e89 M3/1M becomes commercially available soon.
Road debris causing chips should make non-functional parts for fitment become available soon. |

Can I ask why you need these? Or is it more a question of want?

Lol I'm sure nobody "needs" CCM brakes, just wondering since M3/M4's are being sold with this option, we 1Mer's might get to fit some original ones on.
I would love to have them for unsprung weight saving purposes and longevity.

I drove an M4 with Carbon brakes and my 1M with AP Racing brakes felt just as firm and quick to stop......but then again $8100 for the kit is actually a great price but you seriously need a reason to have this option which helped bump the M4 overall price up to $87K

I'm running full AP front/rear set up here with Pagid Rs29's all round. Seriously, you don't need anything more.
Wish I had fitted them from day one after 3 sets of OEM discs and countless pads. Last edited by RKR; 09-02-2014 at 06:37 PM.. |

Need to be aware of replacement cost on the ceramic rotors if you track the car. They do wear slower but when they need replacement watch out. Friend of mine owns a Porsche that he ordered with ceramics. He tracks the car a lot at VIR and ditched the ceramics after a couple expensive replacements due to overall replacement cost. His view in his application was that the benefit did not warrant the cost. Maybe the BMWs are different but I would do my homework before I go down this path.

Do you think I can put on a more aggressive pad with the current rotors (which "feel" warped -- car shakes a lot when braking) and continue using them? Would this fix the pad deposit problem and make the rotors better again? (OP: sorry for thread-jacking).

Pros as I see it are: -more robust package for the track -- better cooling and fade resistance -lower runnings costs after initial acquisition -all-business-and-no-flash look -ease of brake pad change Are you going this route because you plan on increasing HP with single turbo setup and need a corresponding braking upgrade? I ask because the stock system seems quite robust to me with just the addition of aggressive pads and fluid. At what point in your opinion does the added cost justify the actual benefits? |

The single turbo will likely be going on my car in the next 2-3 weeks and, for that reason, I believe an upgrade to my brakes is warranted. In addition, the car is at RRT Racing now having a 4-point roll bar installed. Neil |
